Ferrari’s first electric car is moving from rumor to reality.
A new prototype believed to be the Ferrari Luce has been spotted testing on public roads in Maranello, giving enthusiasts another look at the brand’s long-awaited EV. The car remains heavily camouflaged, but this latest sighting shows a few new details that hint at where Ferrari may be heading with its electric future.
A Low-Slung Front End With F40 Echoes
The most noticeable part of the prototype is its front end. The Luce appears to have a very low nose, with a line that runs cleanly around into the front fenders. There are also subtle styling cues that seem to nod toward the Ferrari F40, especially in the shape of the front fenders and the lower intake area.
That said, camouflage can be deceptive, and Ferrari knows exactly how to use it to its advantage. Some of what looks like retro inspiration may simply be a clever disguise. Still, the resemblance is strong enough to get people talking.
The headlights also appear to be set low in the bumper, sitting below the LED daytime running lights. That placement gives the front end a sharper, more aggressive look. The lower intake design adds to that impression, creating a face that feels more performance-focused than futuristic for the sake of it.
Side Profile Suggests a Four-Door Layout
The side view is harder to decode because Ferrari has done a very effective job of masking the body shape. Even so, a few elements are visible. The car seems to have a low front stance, oversized side mirrors, and what looks like a four-door configuration.
That would make sense if Ferrari is planning to launch the Luce as a practical performance EV with a grand touring character rather than a pure two-door sports car. For a brand built on emotion and speed, that would be a significant but logical step.
Rear Design Still Mostly Hidden
At the back, the prototype remains heavily covered, leaving plenty of questions unanswered. There are some hints that round LED taillights could be part of the design, but nothing is confirmed yet.
A large rear diffuser is also visible under the camouflage. Whether it is fully functional or mainly there to reinforce the car’s aggressive appearance is not yet clear. Ferrari is known for mixing style and substance, so either outcome would not be a surprise.
Large Wheels and Wide Rubber Point to Performance Intent
The wheels on this test mule are clearly not final production items, but they do offer a clue about the car’s stance. The Luce appears to be riding on large-diameter wheels wrapped in wide tires, which is exactly what you would expect from Ferrari’s first EV.
If the brand wants its electric debut to feel like a true Ferrari, it will need more than silent power. It will need presence, proportions, and the kind of visual drama that makes people stare before they even know what they’re looking at.
Ferrari’s Electric Chapter Is Taking Shape
At this stage, the biggest question is whether the Ferrari Luce will lean into retro design references or take a cleaner, more modern path. Based on these spy shots, Ferrari is still keeping that answer locked away under layers of camouflage.
What is clear, though, is that Ferrari’s electric car is no longer just a concept on a slide deck. It is out in the real world, being tested in the open, and the countdown to its official reveal is very much on.
One thing is certain: Maranello’s next chapter is already rolling.
