Ford has expanded its Ranger line-up with a clever new take on the traditional pick-up truck. The company has introduced a two-seat version of the Ranger Double Cab, designed specifically for businesses and commercial users who need extra secure storage without sacrificing comfort or capability.

The new variant removes the rear passenger seats entirely and transforms the cabin space into an enclosed load area, offering a practical solution for professionals carrying tools, equipment, or valuable cargo that may not be ideal for the open rear bed.

Designed for Utility and Everyday Work

Unlike the standard double-cab Ranger, the new model focuses heavily on practicality. Ford has stripped out the rear bench seats, seatbelts, and side windows in the back section of the cabin. In their place sits a solid full-height bulkhead with aluminium panels covering the previous window openings.

The result is a more secure and weather-protected storage compartment directly behind the front seats. Ford has also fitted the rear cabin area with a durable load liner and multiple tie-down points to help secure loose items while driving.

A hard-wearing cover adds another layer of protection, making the area suitable for carrying expensive work gear, technical equipment, or delicate cargo that drivers may not want exposed in the traditional load bed.

Tax Benefits Could Attract Business Buyers

One of the biggest talking points around the new Ranger two-seat is its commercial tax advantage.

Ford says the addition of a fixed bulkhead behind the front seats means the vehicle will qualify for 100 per cent plant and machinery allowance. It will also retain the flat-rate company car benefit-in-kind taxation typically associated with commercial vehicles.

This could make the Ranger especially attractive for fleet operators, contractors, and company vehicle buyers looking to maximise tax efficiency while still driving a premium pick-up truck.

The model will also continue to benefit from the standard flat-rate road tax applied to commercial vehicles in the UK.

Wildtrak Trim Brings Premium Features

The new Ranger two-seat will launch exclusively in the popular Wildtrak specification, ensuring buyers still receive the premium feel associated with Ford’s higher-end pick-up range.

Standard equipment includes a large 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, a heated steering wheel, and an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. Buyers will also have the choice between diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains, giving flexibility for both traditional long-distance users and those looking for improved efficiency.

Ford has not yet revealed official pricing, but industry expectations suggest the two-seat model may come in slightly below the standard Ranger Double Cab Wildtrak, which currently starts at around £30,800 excluding VAT.

A Practical Twist on a Popular Pick-Up

Ford Ranger has already established itself as one of Europe’s best-selling pick-up trucks, balancing rugged performance with modern comfort. This latest two-seat version adds a fresh layer of practicality aimed directly at commercial users who need more enclosed storage without stepping up to a van.

For businesses that rely on versatility, durability, and tax efficiency, Ford’s latest Ranger could become a very appealing option in the growing commercial vehicle market.
