Google has introduced four new devices in the Pixel 9 lineup at its annual Made by Google event on Tuesday. The new devices include the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. All the devices in this series are powered by the Tensor G4 chipset, but what truly stands out is the inclusion of new Gemini AI features, which have garnered significant attention. Keep on reading this article to know the top features introduced in Pixel 9 series. The top AI features in the Pixel 9 series include the Pixel Screenshots tool, Gemini Live, AI Weather Report, etc.
Gemini Live
Google has rolled out a new feature called Gemini Live, which offers a more conversational way to interact with its AI chatbot. This feature is designed to replicate the experience of using ChatGPT via GPT-4, offering support for 10 new voices and the ability to pause responses mid-conversation for a more natural interaction.
Additionally, Gemini Live supports hands-free usage, allowing users to interact with the AI chatbot even when the app is in the background or the device is locked. This feature is currently available to Gemini Advanced users on Android, with plans to extend to iOS soon. Users of Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold will receive a year of free access to Gemini Advanced.
Pixel Studio
Google has launched Pixel Studio, a new app exclusive to Pixel devices. This app enables users to bring their creative visions to life using simple prompts. The image generator within Pixel Studio is powered by an on-device AI model, leveraging the Tensor G4 chip and the Imagen 3 text-to-image model, which operates on the cloud.
Pixel Screenshots
The top AI features in the Pixel 9 series include the Pixel Screenshots tool, which organizes and makes screenshots searchable through AI. The new Pixel Screenshots feature allows users to better organize and recall screenshots using the power of AI.
By analyzing the content of images, this feature makes information within screenshots searchable via text prompts. Users can search for specific images and receive relevant links and summaries based on the content. This feature bears similarities to Microsoft’s Recall feature, previously introduced in Copilot+ PCs but later withdrawn due to privacy concerns.
AI-Powered Weather Reports
Google has revamped the weather app on Pixel devices, integrating AI to provide more accurate forecasts. In addition to improved accuracy, users will also receive customized weather reports generated by the Gemini Nano AI. AI-powered weather reports, one of the top AI features in Pixel 9 series, provide more accurate and personalized forecasts.
Call Notes
The Pixel 9 series introduces Call Notes, a feature that uses AI to generate private summaries and full transcripts of phone calls immediately after they end. Notably, this feature works entirely on the device, and all participants in the call are notified that Call Notes is active, ensuring transparency.
Magic Editor with “Add Me” Feature
The Magic Editor on the Pixel 9 series has been upgraded with a new “Add Me” feature for group photos. This allows users to overlay themselves into a group picture by taking a second shot at the same location. This eliminates the need for a tripod or relying on others to take the photo.
Additionally, the Magic Editor now includes more advanced image editing tools, such as Auto Frame, which helps users reframe photos for better composition, and Reimagine, which allows users to modify elements of an image using text prompts.
Satellite SOS
Google has introduced Satellite SOS on the Pixel 9 series, making these the first Android devices to offer this feature. Satellite SOS enables users to contact emergency services via satellite in areas without network coverage and share their location. This feature is currently limited to the United States.
