GoPro, the company best known for its compact action cameras and adventure-focused video technology, is entering a new era after agreeing to be acquired by Starman Optical in a deal valued at approximately $285 million.
The transaction represents a dramatic shift for a brand that built its reputation among athletes, travelers, content creators and outdoor enthusiasts. Following the deal, GoPro plans to expand beyond the consumer camera market and pursue opportunities in defense, government, robotics, aerospace and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
