Dynamax Zapdos is vulnerable to Rock- and Ice-type moves. Unfortunately, as of now, there are no Dynamax Pokémon equipped with Rock-type Dynamax moves. This limitation means trainers need to be strategic in their approach.

Top Pokémon Choices for the Battle

To effectively counter Dynamax Zapdos, consider the following Pokémon:

  • Excadrill: Excadrill stands out as a prime choice due to its resistance to many of Zapdos’s attacks. Its Steel and Ground typing provides durability, allowing it to withstand hits while contributing offensively.
  • Metagross: With its Steel and Psychic typing, Metagross offers solid defense against Zapdos. However, be cautious of Zapdos’s Drill Peck, which can deal significant damage.
  • Grass-type Pokémon: Options like Tangrowth and Ferrothorn can be beneficial. While they can absorb some of Zapdos’s Electric-type moves, they remain susceptible to Flying-type attacks, so use them judiciously.

Battle Strategy

  1. Lead with Defensive Pokémon: Start the battle with your more durable Pokémon to absorb initial attacks and build up your Max Meter. This approach ensures that your offensive powerhouses remain unscathed for critical moments.
  2. Monitor Zapdos’s Moves: Pay close attention to Zapdos’s attack patterns. When it prepares a powerful move, consider using Max Guard or swapping to a Pokémon that can better resist the impending attack.
  3. Utilize the Max Meter Wisely: Once your Max Meter is charged, switch to your offensive Pokémon to unleash potent Dynamax or Gigantamax moves. Timing is crucial; deploying these moves at the right moment can turn the tide of battle.
  4. Team Coordination: If battling alongside other trainers, ensure clear communication. Coordinate Dynamax moves and support each other by covering weaknesses and maximizing damage output.

Additional Tips

  • Adapt to Available Resources: If you lack the ideal counters, don’t hesitate to use the strongest Dynamax Pokémon at your disposal. Sometimes, sheer power and well-timed moves can compensate for type disadvantages.
  • Stay Agile: Be prepared to adjust your strategy based on Zapdos’s behavior. Flexibility and quick decision-making are key components of a successful battle.

Defeating Dynamax Zapdos requires a blend of preparation, strategic team selection, and in-battle adaptability. By understanding its weaknesses and leveraging your team’s strengths, you can conquer this Legendary challenge and add a remarkable victory to your Pokémon Go journey.
