How is YouTube TV different from YouTube?

One major thing that makes the biggest difference in the matter is the payment. YouTube is the free video platform everyone knows. It’s where you find creator videos, music, tutorials, vlogs, and pretty much anything that the users create and upload. It’s mostly on-demand and has ads too.  Whereas, YouTube TV is a paid streaming service designed to replace cable TV. It offers live TV channels like ABC, NBC, ESPN, and CNN, cloud DVR to record shows, and popular content on demand from those networks. It’s more like a traditional TV experience, but delivered over the internet, and has its own subscription fee separate from regular YouTube which you need to pay as per your chosen plan.

Steps to unsubscribe from YouTube TV

If you are serious about unsubscribing from YouTube TV, then you can do so by following a few simple steps –

On a Web Browser

This is usually the most reliable way to cancel, so if you have access to a PC, you can try it out!

  • Open the YouTube TV: Open your web browser and go to tv.youtube.com. Make sure you’re logged into the Google account associated with your YouTube TV subscription.
  • Access Settings: Look for your profile picture there and click on it. From the dropdown menu, select “Settings.”
  • Manage Membership: In the Settings menu, you’ll see a section called “Membership.” Click on it, and then find the option that says, “Manage membership” or simply “Manage” next to your plan.
  • Cancel now if you want to: You should now see an option to “Cancel membership” or just “Cancel.” Click that, and follow any prompts popping up on the screen to confirm. The reasons are optional, but if you want to, you can enter yours.

On Your Phone or Tablet use the YouTube TV app

If you’re on the go, you can also manage your subscription directly from the app on Android devices.

  • Open the App: Launch the YouTube TV app on your Android phone or tablet, whatever you want to use for the purpose.
  • Tap on Your Profile: Look for your profile icon in the top right corner and click on it to proceed.
  • Navigate to the Membership area: Go to “Settings,” then “Membership.”
  • Cancel now: Tap “Manage Membership” and then select “Cancel Membership.” Follow the final steps to confirm your decision.

Things to remember

If you’re on an iPhone or iPad, sometimes the app won’t let you cancel directly. In that case, just use the “Web Browser” method above on your device’s browser, or you can try canceling through your Apple ID Subscriptions in your device’s Settings, depending on what seems the most feasible to you.

When you cancel, you’ll still have access to YouTube TV until the end of your current payment or free trial period. You won’t be charged again, so don’t stress about it.
