Playing Pokémon Go and wanting to catch Lugia? Read on to know how you can get this Pokémon and use it well in the game. So, let’s get started and tell you more about this Pokémon and how you can catch it.
About Lugia
Catching Lugia is a solid mission to get you out of the house and do some finding. Since it’s a Psychic/Flying type, it’s basically a giant “tank.” To take it down in today’s Shadow Raids, you’ll need a decent group, as it can’t be done alone. You should not try to do it alone, as it is much easier with a good team by your side. Make sure you have some Dark and Electric types, mainly Tyranitar and Zekrom. However, you have to be patient about it. Lugia does a lot of backflips, so wait for the animation to end before throwing your ball. You’ll know how to time the throw once you have practiced it once or twice.
Steps to catch Lugia in Pokémon Go
If you want to catch Lugia in Pokémon Go, then these are the steps that you can follow.
Time in Right
Shadow Lugia is appearing in 5-star Shadow Raids all day, and that is the best time to make your move. However, for today, our best bet is tonight’s Raid Hour from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Almost every gym will have a Lugia or Ho-Oh, so it’s the perfect time to find a group.
Show Up in Person
Remember that Shadow Raids are local only. You can’t use a Remote Raid Pass to make it work, so you’ll need to physically head to a gym.
Bring the Heavy Hitters
Lugia is known to be quite tanky. So, use Electric, Rock, Ice, Ghost, or Dark types. Tyranitar, especially Mega, Zekrom, and Gengar, are going to be the ones here.
Use Purified Gems
Since it’s a Shadow Raid, Lugia will get “enraged” and boost its stats mid-fight. This is an important pointer to remember. You’ll need a team of at least 4–6 people using Purified Gems to calm it down; otherwise, it won’t be so easy to beat in the first place.
The Catch
Once you win, just use Golden Razz Berries and wait for Lugia to finish its backflip animation before throwing. Time the throw well, and if you get a Shiny Shadow Lugia, it’s a guaranteed catch. Also, you can use a Pinap Berry for extra candy!
Best of luck, and happy catching!
