Want to make your flying experience hassle-free? Follow the guide to know how you can enroll in Touchless TSA PreCheck. We shall discuss what it is and how it works, along with how you can benefit from it. So, let’s get started.
What is TSA?
TSA, or the Transportation Security Administration, is the keeper of the “sterile area” at the airport. Since risks could be detected while flying, their primary job is to make sure nobody brings anything dangerous like weapons or explosives onto a plane. This is to ensure that all the passengers are safe on a flight and reach their destinations safely. Do we know them? Well, they take care of us during the screening. That is, when we take our shoes off, laptops, and other electronics out for the scan. Beyond the blue uniforms at the scanners, they also handle federal air marshals and baggage screening, which holds utmost importance in the process. They’re the regulatory layer designed to keep the traveling public safe from takeoff to touchdown.
Steps to enroll in Touchless TSA PreCheck
If you want to enroll for the PreCheck, here is all you need to know about it.
Update Your Airline Profile
This is very basic, and that’s how you need to start. Log in to the mobile app for a participating airline like United, Delta, American, Alaska, or Southwest. Now, go to your profile settings and make sure your Known Traveler Number (KTN) and Passport details are saved. That is enough to begin.
Opt-In
After this, you need to look for a section labeled “TSA PreCheck Touchless ID” or “Biometrics” within your profile or the “Travel Documents” area. Toggle the switch to Opt-In. After you have done so, some apps may ask you to scan your passport’s chip with your phone during this process. This is a part of the process, and you need not be alarmed.
Check Your Boarding Pass
When you check in for a flight via the app, look for a specific Touchless ID indicator, which is usually a small icon on your digital boarding pass. That is how you can identify it.
Act Out!
At the airport, find “Touchless ID.” Here, you’ll just look into a camera, and once it matches your face to your passport photo, you will be able to go without a question! But there is still something that you must take care of. Always keep your physical ID on you, just in case the authorities ask for it, just to be sure.
And that is how you can easily enroll in touchless TSA PreCheck.
