In the world of Arc Raiders, taking down a Bastion is both a challenging and rewarding task. Bastions are massive, heavily armored ARC units that patrol various maps — but when you know where to find them and how to hit their weak spots, you can bring them down reliably for valuable loot. Here’s a complete, easy-to-follow guide on how to find and destroy a Bastion.

The Bastion is a large, slow-moving ARC unit, outfitted with a high-rate minigun that can shred your shields and health within seconds if you stay exposed. Its bulky armor makes it resistant to standard weapons, but fortunately, the Bastion has a few critical weak points — hitting them correctly can disable and destroy it.
When destroyed, Bastions drop valuable resources such as ARC Alloy, ARC Powercells, Motion Cores, and especially the rare Bastion Cell — an item often used to upgrade gear and crafting benches.
Where to find a Bastion
Bastions can spawn across all maps in Arc Raiders, but some areas have a higher probability or are more convenient for hunting. Key spawn zones include:
- On the Blue Gate map — particularly inside tunnels under the Headhouse or near warehouse complexes. High ground or vents often overlook the Bastion’s patrol paths, giving you a tactical advantage.
- In Buried City — around areas like the Plaza Rosa street, near buildings, parking garages, or old-town districts. Rooftops or elevated vantage spots offer good sightlines.
- On the Spaceport map — near container yards, hangars, or maintenance zones. Bastions often roam near storage yards or the external hangar areas.
- On Dam Battlegrounds — near industrial complexes, generator hubs, or swampy zones around the Hydroponic Dome. These areas often see ARC patrols including Bastion units.
Because Bastions roam rather than stay fixed, it helps to traverse likely spawn zones methodically. Scan container yards, hangars, tunnels, and abandoned city districts. If you’re unsure whether you’ve found a Bastion, ping the target — your character will confirm it.
How to destroy a Bastion — tactics and strategy
Fighting a Bastion is risky, especially in open terrain. But with the right approach, you can take it down efficiently. Here’s how:
1. Clear surroundings first
Bastions are often accompanied by smaller ARC units, or may call in additional enemies. Before engaging, eliminate or keep control over these threats. That reduces distractions and avoids you being flanked.
2. Use cover — avoid direct exposure
Because the Bastion uses a gatling gun, standing in open ground is a quick path to defeat. Use walls, debris, high ground or ventilation shafts to your advantage.
3. Focus weak points
Bastions have two main weak zones:
- Yellow joints on the legs — damaging these will gradually degrade its armor and may impair its mobility.
- Yellow canister or cylinder on its back — this is the main weak spot. If you destroy it (or damage it heavily), the Bastion becomes vulnerable. Hitting this spot repeatedly (especially with armor-piercing or heavy weapons / explosives) will often lead to a quick takedown.
4. Use heavy weapons and explosives
Because of its armor, standard weapons might take too long. Use weapons or gear that provide high armor-penetration or burst damage (such as high-velocity rifles, grenades, or heavy weaponry). Fire-based attacks and explosives tend to work especially well — the Bastion has trouble dodging area-of-effect attacks.
5. Stay mobile and rotate positions
Once the Bastion starts firing, keep moving. Dive behind cover, change positions, and avoid staying in one spot too long. If teammates are with you, coordinate to flank — one or two raid from front, others go around back for rear weak point.
6. Use height advantage when available
On certain maps (notably Blue Gate or Buried City), you can access vents, rooftops or pipes above Bastion patrol paths. These elevated vantage points let you shoot weak spots while minimizing risk of aggro or direct fire. Shooting from above helps especially when using long-range or armor-piercing weapons.
7. Explosive or grenade finishing
Once the Bastion’s weak spots are exposed, a well-placed grenade or heavy explosive can finish the job quickly. This is especially useful if you’re low on ammo or want a fast takedown before other players arrive (in PvPvE scenarios).
