Hidden Treasure No. 3 is one of the more confusing side activities in Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The clue shows a gate beside a tall wall and gives you a short description: “At the temple where dragons soar.”
To begin this treasure hunt, find the woman on the northern side of the map, west of the Shijo Street Spirit Mirror. Speak with her to receive Old Drawing No. 3. Once you have the drawing, the treasure location will appear as a general search area on your map.
Follow the Clue to the Temple
The drawing is vague, but the temple mentioned in the clue provides the key. The clue becomes much clearer once you know exactly which temple to enter. Travel toward the Kamo River – East Spirit Mirror in Eastern Kyoto. Near this Spirit Mirror is a large temple area that you previously visit during the story.
The location is also recognizable because it is connected to an earlier fight involving two Genma brothers.
When you reach the temple, do not search around the outside of the wall. This is the main trick behind Hidden Treasure No. 3.
Enter the Temple Grounds
From the Kamo River – East Spirit Mirror, look for the main entrance to the temple. It is located just east of the Spirit Mirror. Enter through this doorway and move into the courtyard.
Turn right as soon as you enter.
Continue forward until you reach a large closed gate. This is the exact spot shown in Old Drawing No. 3. The important detail is your position: you need to be inside the temple grounds, standing near the gate rather than searching from the street outside.
Use Oni Eyes to Reveal the Chest
The treasure chest is not visible when you first reach the location. Like the other Hidden Treasures in Onimusha: Way of the Sword, it is concealed until you use the Oni Eyes ability.
Stand close to the large closed gate and activate Oni Eyes. If you are in the correct position, the hidden chest will appear.
If nothing happens, do not immediately leave. Move around the gate slightly and activate Oni Eyes again. The detection point is quite specific, and being a few steps away can make the treasure seem missing.

Quick Route to Hidden Treasure No. 3
For a simple route, follow these steps:
- Get Old Drawing No. 3 from the woman west of the Shijo Street Spirit Mirror.
- Travel to the Kamo River – East Spirit Mirror.
- Enter the large temple through the main door east of the Spirit Mirror.
- Turn right immediately after entering.
- Walk toward the large closed gate inside the courtyard.
- Stand near the gate and activate Oni Eyes.
- Open the revealed chest and collect the rewards.
Why the Treasure Can Be Easy to Miss
Hidden Treasure No. 3 is difficult mainly because the map marker does not point directly to the chest. It only gives you a general area to search.
The “temple where dragons soar” description is the biggest hint. Once you connect it with the temple near the Kamo River – East Spirit Mirror, the search becomes much easier.
