In Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, perks play a crucial role in giving players tactical advantages on the battlefield. Among the many available perks, Tracker stands out for its ability to reveal enemy movements and help you get the drop on unsuspecting foes. Here’s everything you need to know about how to get and use the Tracker perk in Black Ops 6.

What is the Tracker Perk?

The Tracker perk belongs to the Recon category, which focuses on gathering intelligence about enemy positions. When equipped, Tracker allows you to see the footprints of enemy players for a limited time, giving you a crucial insight into their movements. Additionally, aiming down sights (ADS) will automatically ping enemies, though this comes with a cooldown period. This combination of abilities makes Tracker a great tool for flanking enemies and setting up ambushes without relying on UAVs or other detection methods.

How to Unlock the Tracker Perk

Unlocking the Tracker perk requires progression in multiplayer. In Black Ops 6, perks are divided into categories, and Tracker is part of the Recon category. To unlock it, you need to reach Level 18. Once you hit this level, the perk becomes available for you to equip in your custom loadouts.

It’s important to note that unlocking perks in Black Ops 6 often follows a tiered progression system. You can unlock some perks early, but more powerful ones, like Tracker, are reserved for higher levels, encouraging players to keep leveling up to gain access to better abilities. If you’re aiming to get Tracker quickly, focusing on earning experience points through objectives and kills will help you level up faster.

Best Ways to Use the Tracker Perk

The Tracker perk is extremely versatile and works well in various playstyles. However, it’s especially effective for players who prefer a stealthy approach. Here’s how you can make the most of it:

  1. Flanking and Ambushing: Tracker’s ability to reveal enemy footprints gives you the edge in situations where knowing your enemy’s exact position is key. It’s a great tool for flanking opponents and setting up ambushes in crowded areas or choke points. By following the trail of footprints, you can position yourself behind enemies and take them out before they realize what’s happening.

  2. Close-Quarters Combat: If your playstyle involves getting close to enemies, Tracker can be invaluable. You can silently approach enemies by following their footprints, which is particularly useful in game modes like Domination, where players often hold down certain areas. Combine Tracker with a close-range weapon like an SMG or shotgun for devastating results.

  3. ADS Pinging: The automatic ping feature when aiming down sights gives you an additional layer of enemy awareness. This is especially useful in objective-based modes, where enemies are often clustered around key points. With proper timing and positioning, you can use the ping to reveal enemy locations, allowing you to plan your attacks more effectively.

  4. Combining with Other Perks: While Tracker is powerful on its own, combining it with other perks from the Recon category amplifies its potential. For example, pairing it with Ghost, which makes you invisible to UAVs and radar pings, enhances your stealth capabilities. Another strong combination is with Engineer, allowing you to see enemy equipment through walls, which helps you navigate around traps while tracking enemies.

When to Avoid Using Tracker

Although Tracker is a great perk, it may not suit every situation. In larger, more open maps, the visibility of enemy footprints might not be as helpful as perks that improve long-range combat or offer more utility, such as Flak Jacket (reduces explosive damage) or Cold-Blooded (makes you invisible to AI-controlled Scorestreaks). In these situations, you might want to prioritize perks that offer better protection or enhance your long-range game.

Additionally, if you prefer a more aggressive, fast-paced playstyle, the cooldown on Tracker’s ADS pinging ability might feel limiting. In such cases, you may want to opt for perks that boost your movement speed or weapon handling, like Gung-Ho or Fast Hands.
