Fortnite Chapter 7’s Treasure Hunters mini-season introduces Captain X, a mysterious pirate connected to the season’s treasure hunt. Players looking to unlock this unique character must complete weekly quests and progress through a special reward track in the Battle Pass. Unlike regular outfits that can be purchased directly from the Item Shop, Captain X requires players to complete specific challenges.

The good news is that the process is straightforward once you understand how the reward system works. Here is everything you need to know about unlocking Captain X in Fortnite, including the required quests, reward milestones, and the best ways to make progress.

How to Unlock Captain X in Fortnite

To unlock Captain X, you must complete 24 Weekly Quests during the Treasure Hunters mini-season and own the Treasure Hunters Battle Pass.

Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Launch Fortnite and enter the main lobby.
  2. Open the Battle Pass menu and check your Treasure Hunters Battle Pass.
  3. Navigate to the Quests tab and select the currently available Weekly Quests.
  4. Complete the weekly objectives listed in the game.
  5. Track your progress through the Captain X reward milestones.
  6. Once you have completed 24 qualifying Weekly Quests, unlock and claim the Captain X Outfit from the Battle Pass rewards.

Remember that completing 24 quests does not mean opening 24 treasure chests or reaching a particular Battle Pass level. Your progress depends on the number of qualifying Weekly Quests you finish.

Do You Need the Battle Pass to Get Captain X?

Yes. The Captain X Outfit is part of the Treasure Hunters Battle Pass reward track, so you must own the pass to claim it.

Completing the required challenges without purchasing the Battle Pass will not give you access to the outfit. However, you can make progress on the qualifying quests before purchasing the pass and then claim the rewards after obtaining it, provided the reward track remains available.

Buying the Battle Pass also does not unlock Captain X immediately. You must still complete the required 24 Weekly Quests.

Captain X Quest Rewards and Milestones

The Captain X reward track includes several cosmetic items that players can unlock before earning the outfit itself.

Here is the current milestone breakdown:

  • 4 Weekly Quests: The Treasure Hunt Begins Loading Screen
  • 8 Weekly Quests: Banner Icon
  • 12 Weekly Quests: He Who Sees All Treasure Spray
  • 14 Weekly Quests: Rogue Wave and Tidecutter Back Bling
  • 18 Weekly Quests: Unrevealed reward
  • 20 Weekly Quests: Unrevealed reward
  • 24 Weekly Quests: Captain X Outfit

These milestones give players additional rewards while they work towards the main goal. The rewards at 18 and 20 completed quests have not been fully revealed, so check the in-game Battle Pass for the latest information.

Which Quests Count Towards Captain X?

Not every activity in Fortnite’s Treasure Hunters mini-season contributes to the Captain X reward track. You need to complete the Weekly Quests specifically.

The opening set includes the following objectives:

  • Consume a Devil Fruit: Find and consume a Devil Fruit during a match.
  • Use a Rift Service or Hire a Specialist: Complete the required actions across two different matches.
  • Open Sprite Chests: Use Wanted Posters to locate and open three Sprite Chests.
  • Fire a Loaded Cannon: Load a cannon with a cannonball or player and fire it.

Each of these opening Weekly Quests awards 20,000 XP. Completing them helps you level up while progressing towards Captain X.

Pay attention to the exact wording of each objective. For example, the Rift Service or Specialist challenge requires progress across two separate matches, while the Sprite Chest challenge requires you to dig up and open the chests rather than simply collect Wanted Posters.
Tips to Unlock Captain X Faster

Since the Treasure Hunters mini-season has a limited duration, completing quests regularly is the best way to avoid missing the outfit.

Use these tips to make the process easier:

  • Prioritise Weekly Quests: Focus on objectives that count towards the Captain X reward track before spending time on unrelated challenges.
  • Complete Multiple Objectives Together: If several quests can be completed in the same match, plan your route to finish them together.
  • Check Quest Requirements: Read the full description before starting an objective to avoid repeating actions that do not count.
  • Track Your Milestones: Visit the Battle Pass reward screen to see how many qualifying quests you have completed.
  • Return for New Quests: Additional Weekly Quests arrive as the mini-season progresses, giving you more opportunities to reach the required total.

You can explore Crossbones Isle and enjoy the season’s other activities while working towards Captain X. However, remember that treasure hunts, One Piece Episode quests, and other challenges have separate progression systems. They do not automatically count towards the 24 Weekly Quests required for the outfit.

When Can You Unlock Captain X?

The Treasure Hunters mini-season began on November 1, 2026, and its Chapter 7 finale is scheduled for December 5, 2026. New Weekly Quests arrive in batches, so players cannot necessarily complete all 24 qualifying quests immediately.

As of November 2, only the initial set of Weekly Quests is available. You will need to return as additional challenges become available and complete enough of them to reach the final milestone.

Do not wait until the last few days to check your progress. Completing quests throughout November will give you more time to deal with difficult objectives and claim your rewards before the season ends.
