What are passive biomods?

Passive biomods are cybernetic and genetic upgrades you can give your character in Subnautica 2. These have their own perks and are known to make surviving the ocean a lot easier. Unlike active mods that you have to manually trigger in the game, passive biomods run constantly in the background once you equip them at a bio lab.

They are so amazing that they act like permanent stat boosts or survival perks tailored to how you want to play. You do not require intervention now. For example, some might slow down how fast your hunger bar drains! Interesting, right? While this is one perk, Others can make you adapt to the dark by giving your body a natural glow or even make you camouflage so predators ignore you when you stand still.

Steps to get more passive biomods in Subnautica 2

If you want to get more passive biomods in Subnautica 2, then this is what you need to do.

  • To begin, just head to the Welcome Center east of your lifepod, insert a basic battery into the power terminal, and access the biolab to unlock your default passive choices that are available at the time.
  • To get more options, you must upgrade your standard tool. For this, locate the bioscanner blueprint inside the shipwreck marked with number seventy-three. You have to be specific with the directions so as not to lose the path or waste time. It lies in the south-southeast of the alien power plant.
  • Here, you must find the modification station blueprint by visiting the Alien Observatory, heading northeast to the Research Outpost, and checking the second room inside.
  • Build the modification station back at your base. When this is done, you can then craft the bioscanner using your standard scanner, two enameled glass, and three conduit crystals.
  • You can now take your new bioscanner out into the ocean to scan specific alien wildlife. When you spot them, it automatically unlocks corresponding passive perks at any biolab. For instance, you can scan a water slug in the shallows to get water secretion.

However, do not just pour all your energy into this. While you can unlock ten different passive abilities, the early access version of the game currently restricts you to equipping only one passive biomod at a time. It may increase in the coming times, but for now, it is like this and no more.
