Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Mysteries of Skull Rock update has finally brought the mischievous Peter Pan to the Valley, and players are eager to unlock this iconic character. If you’ve been wondering how to add the boy who never grows up to your village, this guide will walk you through every step—from starting the questline to solving tricky puzzles and winning Peter’s trust.

Step 1: Complete the Main Storyline and Unlock the Forgotten
Before you can even think about meeting Peter Pan, you’ll need to finish the game’s main storyline. This includes completing all major quests leading up to the introduction of the Forgotten, a key character tied to Skull Rock. Once the main story is done, keep an eye out for the A Forgotten Name quest.
Sometimes, this quest doesn’t appear immediately. If it’s missing from your log, try restarting the game or waiting a little while—some players report it taking up to 45 minutes to trigger. When it finally pops up, head to Skull Rock on Dazzle Beach to meet the Forgotten. You’ll need to give them a permanent name (you can choose from preset options or create a custom one), officially welcoming them as a villager.
Step 2: Begin the Shadows on the Wall Quest
With the Forgotten now part of your Valley, the real adventure begins. Enter Skull Rock with them to start the Shadows on the Wall quest. Inside, you’ll need to explore the cavern and find three broken lanterns:
- One buried near the winches—look for a shining mound to dig up.
- Two submerged in water—use your fishing rod near the dock to reel them in.
Next, gather materials to repair the lanterns:
- 3 Gold Ingots (crafted from 15 Gold Nuggets and 3 Coal).
- 9 Glass (made from 45 Sand and 18 Coal).
- 9 Vitalys Crystals (mined in the Sunlit Plateau’s Vitalys Mine).
Once you’ve fixed the lanterns, you’ll need to catch three Pixie Dust Orbs flitting around the Valley. These glowing orbs are often found in the Glade of Trust near Mother Gothel’s house, the Forest of Valor bridge, and the Forgotten Lands pond. Chase them down and collect their dust.
Step 3: Craft Pixie Dust Lanterns and Solve the Jade Skull Riddles
Take the Pixie Dust Orbs to a crafting station and make three Pixie Dust Lanterns. Place them on the winches inside Skull Rock. Now, aim all three lights at the right wall to reveal Peter Pan’s shadow. Interact with it, then adjust the lanterns to free the shadow and solve three riddles from the Jade Skulls:
- “I’m used to exploring the waters and shores, a swaying home atop the sea-foam. What am I?”
- Answer: A pirate ship.
- “I’m a winged creature, small and bright, with magic dust to grant you flight. Don’t be fooled; I’ve courage twice my size. Date to doubt; that’s just unwise. What am I?”
- Answer: A pixie (Tinker Bell).
- “I’m an instrument of wind, and for him I’ll always play as he laughs and grins to lead the way. What am I?”
- Answer: A pan flute.
Answer correctly, and you’ll unlock the next gate, progressing to A Ship of Gold.
Step 4: Complete the A Ship of Gold Quest
Follow the Forgotten and Peter’s shadow deeper into Skull Rock. Break some jagged rocks near a barrel to find a Pixie Dust Orb and a winch. The orb will dart around, dropping six Pixie Dust piles—chase it and mine the rocks it leads you to.
Once you’ve collected all six, use them on the pirate ship in the center of the cave. The ship will rise, allowing you to cross to the upper level. Here, you’ll face a barrel puzzle with six barrels. Rotate them to match these pairs:
- Hook + Clock (Captain Hook).
- Sewing Needle + Shadow (Peter Pan).
- Pixie + Bell (Tinker Bell).
Solving this rewards you with the Captain’s Key. Use it to unlock the ship’s cabin, grab another winch inside, and place it near the Forgotten to open the next gate.
Step 5: Finish The Music’s on the Walls Quest
The final quest involves chasing a glowing musical note in Skull Rock. Pick up the silver key it leaves behind and unlock a chest in the captain’s cabin to find a treasure map. Dig up the buried treasure on the small island near Skull Rock (use the raft to get there) to get a Pan Flute.
Now, find five more musical notes scattered across the Valley:
- Dream Castle (second floor).
- Dazzle Beach (Ursula’s Cave).
- Frosted Heights (Olaf’s Cave).
- Forgotten Lands (treehouse).
- Skull Rock (near the Jade Skulls).
Return to Skull Rock, place the Pan Flute and notes on the music stand, and align the notes on the walls to match the sheet music. Peter’s shadow will mess things up, so craft another Pixie Dust Lantern to trap him. Realign the notes, play the flute, and Peter Pan will finally appear.
Step 6: Win Peter Pan’s Trust in Hide-and-Seek
Peter isn’t convinced you’re still a child at heart, so he challenges you to a game of hide-and-seek. You can:
- Search manually (time-consuming).
- Follow his pixie dust trail.
- Ask villagers for hints (they’ll mention the Plaza and a “dark, scary place”).
The easiest solution? Head straight to the Dark Castle via the Plaza’s portal. Climb to the top floor, and you’ll find Peter hiding behind night thorns. Talk to him, and he’ll agree to join your Valley.
