Want a Pokémon that is as hard as steel and lets you win battles like anything? Follow the guide to know how you can get Steelix in Legends Z-A! We shall see the steps for the same, along with some more ideas. So, let’s begin.
About Steelix
Steelix is the evolved form of Onix and is truly one of the best Pokémon you can have. To get one, you usually need to trade an Onix while it’s holding a Metal Coat. It’s a huge, serpentine creature that has a huge Defense stat, making it a true tank in battles. It’s a Steel/Ground-type, which gives it excellent resistances and immunity to Poison-type moves. Now that’s really something! But it does come with some weaknesses. It’s vulnerable to Fire, Water, and Fighting-type attacks that can be exploited by the opponent. Looking very different and robust, Steelix is really a Pokémon you can’t miss out on!
Where is Steelix found in Legends Z-A?
As we had discussed above, Steelix isn’t a Pokémon that you’ll find just walking around, as it’s an evolutionary form. In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you can’t actually find Steelix in the wild, and you have to get its pre-evolution, Onix, first. You can typically catch Onix in Wild Zone 14, but that unlocks later in the story, so you may as well have advanced a bit. Once you have an Onix, the basic method applies that you must trade it while it’s holding a Metal Coat to make it evolve into Steelix.
Steps to get Steelix in Legends Z-A
If you want to get yourself a Steelix in Legends Z-A, then these are the steps that can come in handy.
Catch an Onix
You must first find an Onix to begin an evolution first, which usually spawns in Wild Zone 14 after you’ve progressed a decent way into the main story. While you’re searching for it, look near the various holes and dirt mounds in that area!
Get a Metal Coat
This is another crucial item for the process to take place. You can get one by completing the late-game Side Mission 101 (“Steadfast as Steel”) or Side Mission 114 (“A Feather from Skarmory”). If you don’t want to do either of these, you can also buy one from the merchant at Racine Construction later in the game.
Give the Metal Coat to Onix
Put the Metal Coat in your inventory and select it to give it to your Onix to hold. This will trigger the evolution, and you’ll soon be getting your Steelix.
Perform a Link Trade
Now comes the final part! You must trade your Metal Coat-holding Onix with another player with the help of the Link Trade feature. The moment the trade is completed, your Onix will evolve into Steelix on the other player’s screen. Now you can ask them to trade it back to you, so that you have it in your team!
