The Syrupy Apple is an evolution item in Pokémon GO. It is used to evolve Applin into Dipplin, one of the Grass- and Dragon-type Pokémon from the Paldea region. Unlike normal evolution items, the Syrupy Apple is closely tied to the apple-themed evolution system for Applin.

To evolve Applin into Dipplin, you need 200 Applin Candy and 20 Syrupy Apples. This means getting the apples is part of the process. You will also need to catch plenty of Applin and save enough Candy before you can complete the evolution.
How to Get Syrupy Apples
The main way to obtain Syrupy Apples is by interacting with apples that appear near PokéStops. These apples can give different rewards, including Tart Apples, Sweet Apples, Syrupy Apples, or an encounter with Applin.
Mossy Lure Modules can make this process more useful. When a PokéStop has a Mossy Lure Module active, apples have an increased chance of appearing nearby. During the Harvest Festival: Applin Picking event, this method was especially important because Mossy Lure Modules focused on apples.
When you see an apple appear near a suitable PokéStop, tap it and check the reward. The type of apple is not always guaranteed, so getting 20 Syrupy Apples can require some patience.
Use Timed Research for More Apples
Another useful method was the branching Timed Research introduced during the 2026 Harvest Festival. After completing the first part, trainers could choose between three paths connected to Applin’s evolutions.
Choosing the Dipplin path focused the rewards on Syrupy Apples. The second step awarded Syrupy Apples for completing tasks such as catching Pokémon, using Berries, and exploring. The final step also included Syrupy Apple rewards.
This was one of the easiest ways to build a supply quickly during the event. However, the research was time-limited, so trainers needed to finish the tasks and claim the rewards before the event deadline.
Can You Still Get Syrupy Apples?
The Harvest Festival: Applin Picking event ran from September 29 to October 5, 2026. Its special Timed Research and event-specific apple bonuses were therefore temporary.
However, Syrupy Apples are not simply a one-time item that disappears from Pokémon GO after an event. Apples can appear near PokéStops, with Mossy Lure Modules increasing the chance of finding them. Because item availability can change with events and updates, it is worth checking current in-game events if you need more.
If you already have some Syrupy Apples saved, you can use them whenever you meet the evolution requirements.
How to Evolve Applin Into Dipplin
Once you have enough resources, evolving Applin is straightforward. Open your Pokémon storage and select the Applin you want to evolve. If you have 200 Applin Candy and 20 Syrupy Apples, the Dipplin evolution option will be available.
Before evolving, check the Applin’s appraisal and choose the one you actually want to keep. Candy and Syrupy Apples are valuable, and you do not want to spend them on a weaker Applin by accident.
It is also smart to use Pinap Berries when catching Applin. Extra Candy from each catch can make the 200-Candy requirement much easier to reach.
How to Get Hydrapple
Syrupy Apples are also connected to the next stage of the evolution line, but you do not need more Syrupy Apples to evolve Dipplin into Hydrapple.
To evolve Dipplin into Hydrapple, you need 400 Applin Candy. You must also catch seven Dragon-type Pokémon while Dipplin is your buddy. This makes the full evolution line a longer-term project.
If your goal is Hydrapple, start collecting Applin Candy early and keep a Dipplin ready as your buddy when you begin catching Dragon-type Pokémon.
