If you’ve been climbing the treacherous slopes of PEAK, you’ve probably noticed the game’s tricky achievements, or “badges,” scattered throughout its biomes. One of the most talked-about—and frustrating—badges is the Ultimate Badge. Added in the Mesa update, this badge requires precision, teamwork, and a little bit of luck. Here’s everything you need to know to unlock it without pulling your hair out.

The Ultimate Badge is one of PEAK’s most challenging achievements, tasking players with catching a Flying Disc (or frisbee) from at least 100 meters away. While it sounds simple, the execution can be a nightmare if you don’t know the right tricks. The reward? A sleek visor cosmetic for your character, perfect for flaunting your achievement in future runs.
Step 1: Find the Flying Disc
Your journey starts at the crash site in the Shore biome. Unlike key items such as Bing Bong or the compass, the Flying Disc isn’t inside the plane. Instead, you’ll find it lying somewhere around the wreckage, similar to the binoculars. Grab it as soon as possible—it takes up an inventory slot, and you’ll want to clear this challenge early to free up space for more essential gear.
Step 2: Choose the Right Location
Throwing a frisbee 100 meters in PEAK isn’t like tossing one in a park. The game’s uneven terrain, obstacles, and sheer drops can ruin your attempts. For the best shot at success, head to an open area. The mesa biome or the early parts of the tropics work well since they offer flat, obstacle-free stretches. Avoid inclines or tight spaces—unless you enjoy watching your frisbee plummet off a cliff.
Step 3: Measure the Distance (Without a Tape Measure)
PEAK doesn’t have a built-in way to measure distance between players, which makes this step tricky. Fortunately, there’s a workaround: use a campfire. If you try to light one while your teammate is too far away, the game will display a message like, “Can’t light campfire with friends missing!” along with the exact distance between you. Aim for at least 100 meters—going slightly over won’t hurt, but falling short means no badge.
Step 4: The Throw and Catch
Once you’re properly spaced, it’s time for the throw. Hold the throw button (usually Q on PC) to charge your toss. Since you need maximum distance, go for a full-power throw. If you’re playing solo, some players report success by throwing the disc from a high point (like the top of the Shore biome) and then running down to catch it. However, this method is inconsistent—teamwork is far more reliable.
For multiplayer, communication is key. The thrower needs a clear line of sight, and the catcher must be ready. If the frisbee hits the ground or an obstacle before being caught, the attempt won’t count. And here’s the kicker: both players must be the ones to catch it—just throwing it isn’t enough.
Why Isn’t the Badge Unlocking?
If you’ve followed every step and still don’t see the achievement pop up, you’re not alone. Many players report the Ultimate Badge being bugged, with the game failing to register successful throws even at confirmed 100+ meter distances. Some speculate it’s tied to recent patches, while others swear by unconventional methods—like letting the frisbee land in water instead of catching it mid-air.
Until the developers address this, persistence is your best friend. Keep adjusting your distance, trying different angles, and praying to the PEAK gods. If all else fails, take a break and come back after a patch—sometimes, waiting is the only solution.
