Death Stranding 2 throws players into a vast, fractured world where connecting isolated facilities and building efficient routes is key to survival. One of the biggest hurdles you’ll face is managing your Chiral Bandwidth—a crucial resource that limits how many structures you can build. Without enough of it, setting up ziplines, safehouses, and other essential tools becomes impossible, making deliveries far more difficult.

If you’re struggling to expand your network, don’t worry. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about increasing Chiral Bandwidth efficiently, ensuring smoother travels across the game’s harsh landscapes.

Before diving into how to increase it, let’s break down what Chiral Bandwidth actually does. Think of it as a building permit—every structure you place, whether it’s a generator, watchtower, or zipline, consumes a portion of this resource. Once you hit your limit, you can’t build anything else until you free up space or expand your capacity.

Structures vary in cost. A basic ladder might only take a small amount, but high-end tools like ziplines can eat up 500 points or more. Since you’ll rely heavily on these for fast travel, managing your Bandwidth wisely is essential.

The Best Ways to Increase Chiral Bandwidth

1. Improve Facility Connection Levels

The most reliable way to boost your Bandwidth is by strengthening your relationship with facilities across the map. Every time you level up your connection with a location, you get a permanent increase in your total Bandwidth.

How do you level up connections? By earning Likes. The more Likes you gather from a facility, the faster your connection grows. Here’s how to maximize your gains:

  • Complete Deliveries Efficiently – Focus on premium deliveries, which offer more Likes. The better condition your cargo arrives in, the bigger the reward.
  • Return Lost Cargo – Scattered throughout the world, lost cargo belongs to other players or facilities. Delivering it earns you bonus Likes.
  • Take on Optional Objectives – Many missions have extra challenges, like delivering within a tight time frame. Meeting these boosts your reputation faster.

Patience is key here. Some facilities take multiple deliveries before their connection level increases, so prioritize ones in high-traffic areas first.

2. Discover and Connect Hidden Preppers

Not every shelter appears on your map right away. Some preppers are hidden in remote areas, and connecting them can give significant Bandwidth boosts. These side quests usually involve short deliveries but offer long-term benefits.

Keep an eye out for unmarked locations or unusual structures while exploring. If you stumble upon a new prepper, complete their requests—they often reward you with a hefty Bandwidth increase once fully connected.

3. Upgrade Existing Structures Instead of Building New Ones

It’s tempting to spam ziplines everywhere, but that’s a quick way to drain your Bandwidth. Instead of building multiple low-level structures, focus on upgrading the ones you already have.

For example, a Level 1 zipline might only cover a short distance, forcing you to build another nearby. Upgrading it increases its range, meaning you’ll need fewer structures overall. This saves Bandwidth for other essential builds like generators or safehouses.

4. Dismantle Unused Structures

As you progress, some structures become obsolete. Maybe you’ve found a better route or no longer need a particular watchtower. Instead of letting them sit there consuming Bandwidth, dismantle them.

To do this, open your map, select the structure, and hold the delete button. You won’t get materials back, but the freed-up Bandwidth can be used for more important projects.

5. Utilize Other Players’ Structures

One of Death Stranding 2’s best features is shared structures. Anything built by other players doesn’t count toward your Bandwidth limit, so take advantage of them. Before placing your own zipline or bridge, check if someone else has already built one nearby.

This doesn’t mean you should rely entirely on others—some areas might lack player-made structures—but it’s a great way to conserve your own resources.

Smart Bandwidth Management Tips

Even with increased capacity, you’ll need to use your Bandwidth wisely. Here are some extra strategies to optimize your network:

  • Plan Your Routes – Before placing ziplines, map out the most efficient path. A well-planned network requires fewer structures.
  • Prioritize Essential Structures – Generators and safehouses are more valuable than ladders or ropes in the long run. Allocate Bandwidth accordingly.
  • Avoid Overbuilding in One Area – Spread out your structures to cover more ground instead of clustering them in a single zone.
