Can I mass delete my emails on Gmail?

Yes, you can. The features of Gmail allow its users to delete their mails in a mass manner too. It is also quite easy, and you should just know what emails you no longer need in your inbox. Since every email takes up space, it is sensible that we get rid of the ones that are of no use any longer.

Mass deleting all emails on Gmail

If you’ve made the heart to delete all the emails in your Gmail inbox, follow these steps –

  • Log in to your Gmail account and from the top of your inbox, choose the icon with the box.
  • By doing this, all the emails on the first page will be automatically selected.
  • Gmail will ask you to confirm if you want to delete xxx number of emails.
  • If you proceed with delete, and press the trash can icon, they will be deleted.

This can be done when the entire inbox has to be cleared. However, it is not always feasible as important mails should be spared while deleting the obsolete ones. Who knows if we may need them again in the future!

Mass deleting emails categorically on Gmail

If you want to select a specific category of emails that you would like to delete in order to free up some space on your Gmail account, here is how you can do it –

  • Log in to your Gmail account. You can use either the browser or the application.
  • From the drop-down menu on the left, choose the option that mentions – “Categories”.
  • Now from these categories, you will get options like Promotions, Social, Updates, etc.
  • If you want to delete the emails belonging to any of these categories, you can select them and press the “Delete” button.

Doing this will delete all your mails under that category, or the ones that you select for deletion. Since these are the mails, you cannot probably recover, make sure that you don’t delete any important email.

You can repeat the process of mass deletion of mail according to labels and the date range as well. This will delete the emails received between the mentioned time period or selected under a specific label.

Archiving on Gmail

Rather than deleting, you can also archive the emails that you receive on Gmail. Doing this will keep them hidden from the main screen but will not delete them either. From the drop-down menu on the left, you can find them again under the category of “Archived” mails.

This is how you can easily mass delete your emails on Gmail. You do not need to use any third-party application or support and just need to choose the right emails to be deleted.
