Canvas is a popular web-based learning system that is used by huge learning institutions, students as well as the educators for managing and accessing the online courses and their learning materials. On the dashboard of Canvas, you will have status evident, depending on the selection of your course. In this guide, we will discuss how you can remove a class from the Canvas dashboard. We will also discuss how you can add classes to this dashboard. So, let’s begin!
Steps to add classes to the Dashboard
If you want to add classes or courses to your Dashboard, you can follow these steps –
- Find the Courses menu item on the screen and then click on it.
- Click on ‘All Courses’. A list of all your courses will appear on the dashboard. If you’ve added ‘stars’ on the course, it will also get affected.
- Now add the courses to your dashboard on Canvas. Do that by clicking the white star till it turns orange. It will then say ‘Yes’ under the column of ‘Published’.
- Just remember that you cannot star or add a course that was in the past.
That is simply how you can add a class/course to the dashboard.
How to remove a class from the Canvas dashboard?
Now that you have understood how you can add a class or course to the dashboard, you must also learn about removing a class from the dashboard. Follow these steps to know how –
- Log in to your Canvas account using your credentials.
- Click on ‘All Courses’ and move to the next step.
- Now click on the golden star to make it turn into a white star.
- No golden stars mean that no classes are added on the dashboard. All your enrollments, if visible on the screen, may now be your Past enrollments.
How can I cross-list courses in Canvas?
If you want to move section enrollments from multiple single courses and put them together into one course, cross-listing on Canvas comes to your rescue. If you want to do that, here is what you can do about it –
- Spot the course that you would want the other sections to move into. See if there is enough space in the course to accommodate the sections and move accordingly.
- Now find the courses that you would want to cross-list into the bigger course.
- Now while opening the child course (the added course) menu, move to settings and go to ‘selections’.
- Now click on the section name which must be identical to the title of your child’s course.
- After choosing the right names, select the Cross-list.
- In the box that says, ‘Search for Course’, type the CRN of the master course in the process.
- After matching the sections and courses perfectly, match the CRN too and then save. To save click on ‘Cross-list this section’.
That is how you can cross-list courses in Canvas.
Hope this guide has been helpful in allowing you to remove or add courses on your dashboard, which are the major functions on Canvas.
