What is a maintenance light?

A maintenance light is your car’s internal alarm clock. Yes, that’s true. They are used for gentle reminders to draw your attention to an important issue. Unlike the “Check Engine” light, which simply tells you that there is a mechanical problem, this one is just a friendly reminder based on mileage that your engine is giving. It usually pops up in almost every car after 5,000 miles to tell you it’s time that you take your vehicle for a routine check. This mostly involves oil changes and even fluid checks. Whenever you see the light beeping, you can try to get your focus on what it’s asking for and take your car for routine maintenance and more if required.

Steps to reset the maintenance light in the Toyota Rav 4

If you have a Toyota Rav 4 whose maintenance light has been beeping for a long time, then these are the things that you can follow to fix it right away.

For New Models – 2019–2026

This works for most modern RAV4s that use the steering wheel controls and the dashboard display.

Power on

Put your car in the “On” mode by pressing the Start button twice without touching the brake. You can also turn the key to the second position, as it works just fine.

Find Settings

You can use the arrow buttons on the left side of your steering wheel to scroll through the menu until you see the Settings icon.

Vehicle Settings

Scroll down to find Vehicle Settings and hold the “OK” button. This may take a few seconds.

Scheduled Maintenance

Select Scheduled Maintenance from there and finally press “OK.”

Confirm

After you have selected everything, it will ask if you want to reset the data. Select Yes and press “OK.”

For Older Models – Pre-2019

This can work if your car has a physical trip meter pin on the dashboard and is older than 2019.

Set to Trip A

You can begin by turning the car on and tapping the Odometer/Trip button until it shows Trip A. Once it’s done, turn the car completely off.

Hold and Power

While holding down the Odometer button, turn the key back to the “On” position. Make sure you don’t start the engine at this point.

Watch the dots

Keep holding until the flashing dots on the display disappear and the screen shows zeros. Now you can start your engine and go about normally as you do.

You can follow these steps to reset the maintenance light on your Toyota Car!
