Can someone share my post on Facebook?

Yes, people can share your Facebook post. It is quite possible, but it depends entirely on your privacy settings. If your post is set to public, anyone can click on that share button and post it to their own timeline or even in a group. However, if it is set to friends only, then only people you are friends with can share it. And even then, their friends might not see it unless they are also friends with you. It is much like a wall built to protect your rights as a user on the platform. Having good and popular public posts helps your account get a better reach. And the more actively you try to post, and people share it, the more engagement you will receive.

Ways to see who shared my posts on Facebook

If you are thinking of the people who may have shared your posts, then these are the steps you must follow.

  • Check the post notifications. Well, honestly put, this is the most direct way. Your notifications usually instantly tell you if someone has shared your post. When someone shares your post, Facebook usually sends you a notification. You can click on that to jump straight to the shared version of your post and see who posted it and what they may have said about it. You can also check out the reactions and comments to see how the people engaged with it.
  • Also, you can look at the share count on the post itself. On your timeline, try to look right under the post content where the likes and comments are. If people have shared it, you will increase the number of shares. If you click on that text, Facebook will open a list showing the names of the people who shared it, and you can then check out their timeline to see the post shared over there.
  • Be mindful of the privacy restrictions. If someone with a private profile shares your post to their friends only, Facebook might not show you their name in the list for privacy reasons. You may find them as a digit in the share count, but their profile details won’t be visible to you.

You can also use the search bar for public shares. If you think a post has gone viral, you can type keywords from your post into the Facebook search bar. You can rummage through the posts that pop up and see if your own post is found in that list.
