The Edgerunners 2 update brings new anime-inspired content to Cyberpunk 2077, including a side quest called Clampdown. This mission introduces players to King and his crew before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. Completing it also rewards you with themed equipment and a powerful revolver.

However, Clampdown does not appear automatically when you load your save. You must complete specific missions and wait for a message from Wakako Okada before you can begin. Here is how to unlock the Edgerunners 2 quest and start your investigation in Night City.
How to Unlock the Clampdown Quest
To unlock Clampdown in Cyberpunk 2077, you must meet two main requirements. First, complete The Heist, one of the main story missions that concludes Act 1. Second, finish at least two gigs for Wakako Okada, the fixer who operates in Westbrook.
These requirements apply even if you are using an existing save with substantial story progress. If you have already completed The Heist and two Wakako gigs, you should not need to repeat them.
Make sure you have installed the Edgerunners 2 Update, also known as Update 2.5, before looking for the mission.
Step 1: Complete The Heist
The first requirement is completing The Heist. This main mission follows V and Jackie Welles as they attempt a dangerous job involving Arasaka.
If you are already well into the main story, you have probably completed this mission. You can check your completed quests to confirm your progress.
If you are starting a fresh playthrough, continue through the main storyline until The Heist is finished. You cannot unlock Clampdown before meeting this requirement.
Step 2: Finish Two Gigs for Wakako Okada
Next, complete at least two gigs assigned by Wakako Okada. She is a fixer associated with Japantown in Westbrook and offers jobs through the map.
Open your map and look for available gig markers connected to Wakako. Select two missions, complete their objectives, and make sure each job registers as finished.
If you have already completed two of her gigs, you can move directly to the next step.
Step 3: Wait for Wakako’s Message
Once both requirements are satisfied, Wakako should contact V with a message titled “A Request from King.”
This message introduces the new job and explains that King needs assistance. Read the conversation and respond to Wakako when prompted.
If the message does not arrive immediately, do not assume the quest is broken. Try the following:
- Skip time by several hours or a day.
- Travel to another district in Night City.
- Complete another activity while waiting.
- Check your phone and read any pending messages from Wakako.
After receiving and responding to her message, follow the directions she provides to arrange a meeting with King.
Step 4: Meet King to Start Clampdown
Wakako directs you to a meeting point in the Arroyo area of Santo Domingo. Head to the marked location and prepare to speak with King.
During the conversation, you learn about his crew and the situation involving Miguel, a member who needs to be rescued from Night City Prison. Meshuga, the crew’s netrunner, also plays an important role in the operation.
Once you accept the job, the Clampdown quest officially begins. Follow the objective markers and listen to the characters for instructions as the mission develops.
What Rewards Do You Get From Clampdown?
Completing Clampdown gives you access to several pieces of equipment inspired by King’s appearance in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.
The rewards include:
- King’s Coat
- King’s Bulletproof Vest
- King’s Glasses
- King’s Pants
- Icon America Dust Devil Utility Boots
- Coronation, an iconic tech revolver
The Coronation revolver is a particularly interesting reward for players who enjoy powerful handguns. The equipment also gives you a way to recreate King’s look while exploring Night City.
