About Afterpay

Afterpay is a well-known and used “Buy Now, Pay Later” (BNPL) service that lets you purchase items immediately from thousands of partnered retailers, but pay for them over time. This has both online and offline purchases available, so you have the liberty to choose however you want to shop. The core service splits your purchase into four equal, interest-free installments spread over six weeks. You make the first payment right away, and the rest automatically every two weeks. As long as you make your payments on time, you generally won’t be charged interest or extra fees on the amount. It’s simpler as it doesn’t need a credit check, but you can still read the terms and conditions before proceeding.

Does Afterpay function on the Cash App?

Yes, absolutely. Since the company that owns Afterpay also owns Cash App, they have fully integrated the services for their customers to use. If you’ve heard of it, it’s now called Cash App Afterpay, and it allows eligible Cash App customers to use the “Buy Now, Pay Later” feature directly through their Cash App account. And another good thing about it is that you no longer need a separate Afterpay login. You can use it when shopping online at thousands of partner merchants by selecting $Afterpay at checkout, or even for some eligible past purchases made with your Cash App Card. While it’s up to you how frequently you want to use it, buying an expensive thing this way can be really helpful.

Steps to use Afterpay for the Cash App

If you want to use Afterpay for the cash app, these steps can be of help to you!

Using Afterpay at Online Checkout

Shop Online and Checkout

Browse through a participating online retailer’s website or app.
When you reach the payment page, select Afterpay or the $Afterpay option.

App Redirection

You will be prompted to open the Cash App to complete the purchase on your end, often by scanning a QR code or entering your phone number.

Confirm the Payment

In the Cash App, you need to confirm the 4-installment payment schedule, and the first payment, which is 25% of the total, will be taken from your Cash App balance or linked debit card. This will keep the remaining 75% to be deducted in installments.

Using Afterpay on Recent Cash Card Purchases

Make a Purchase

Use your Cash App Card at any eligible merchant and purchase whatever you want.

Check the Activity Tab

Within 7 days of the purchase, you can go to your Activity tab in the Cash App and check for the eligible transactions. Eligible transactions of $25 or more will show a “Pay over time available” or similar option.

Switch to Afterpay

After you have confirmed the transaction, you can choose this option to split that past purchase into four installments, making it easier.
