Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries and India’s richest person, is no stranger to global headlines. From building one of the world’s most valuable companies to consistently ranking among the planet’s wealthiest individuals, Ambani’s life reflects scale and ambition. But perhaps nothing captures public imagination quite like Antilia, his iconic Mumbai residence—often described as one of the most expensive private homes ever built.

Mukesh Ambani’s Global Wealth Ranking

According to the 2025 Forbes report, Mukesh Ambani has a net worth of $96.6 billion, making him the 18th richest person in the world. He continues to hold the title of India’s richest individual, a position he has maintained for several years.

Ambani’s wealth is largely tied to Reliance Industries, a conglomerate with interests spanning energy, retail, telecom, and digital services. As his fortune grows, so does public fascination with how one of the world’s wealthiest families lives—and Antilia sits at the center of that intrigue.

What Makes Antilia One of the World’s Most Expensive Homes?

Antilia stands tall as a 27-storey private residence, an architectural marvel that defies traditional definitions of a home. Built on 1.120 acres of land, the structure combines modern engineering with luxury amenities typically seen in five-star hotels.

Despite having 27 floors, Antilia is designed in such a way that each level has exceptionally high ceilings, making it comparable in height to a much taller conventional building. Every floor is custom-designed, ensuring no two levels look exactly alike.

Luxury Facilities Inside Antilia

The facilities inside Antilia rival those of elite global resorts. The building includes:

  • A fully equipped gymnasium

  • A luxury spa and wellness centre

  • A private theatre

  • An indoor swimming pool

  • A dedicated temple

  • Multiple terrace gardens

  • Parking space for 150+ cars

  • Three helipads on the rooftop

These features allow the Ambani family to live, work, relax, and entertain without ever needing to step outside the building.

How Much Did Antilia Cost to Build?

The story of Antilia began over two decades ago. The land on which the residence stands was purchased in 2002 for $2.5 million by Antilia Commercial Private Ltd. Construction started in 2006 and was completed in 2010, after four years of extensive planning and execution.

While the exact total construction cost is not officially disclosed, Antilia is widely regarded as one of the most expensive residential properties in the world, owing to its prime location, custom architecture, and state-of-the-art infrastructure.

The Jaw-Dropping Electricity Bill of Antilia

One of the most talked-about aspects of Antilia is its monthly electricity bill—a figure that often leaves people stunned.

Due to its massive size and extensive facilities, Antilia reportedly consumes over 600,000 units of electricity every month. The estimated monthly electricity bill ranges between ₹70 lakh and ₹80 lakh.

To put that into perspective, the amount spent on electricity each month is enough to buy a luxury car, making it a recurring expense that reflects the sheer scale of the residence.

More Than a House, A Global Icon

Antilia is not just Mukesh Ambani’s home—it is a global landmark that symbolizes extreme luxury and modern engineering. From its sky-high power consumption to its hotel-like amenities, the building continues to captivate audiences across the world.

As discussions around wealth, sustainability, and luxury evolve, Antilia remains a fascinating case study—one that perfectly mirrors the stature of the man who lives within its walls.

Conclusion: A Symbol Beyond Brick and Concrete

Antilia is far more than a luxurious address—it is a symbol of ambition, innovation, and India’s emergence on the global wealth map. While its towering structure, lavish amenities, and jaw-dropping electricity bill continue to grab headlines, Antilia ultimately represents the journey of Mukesh Ambani himself: bold, visionary, and unapologetically grand.

In a city where space is precious and dreams are limitless, Antilia stands as a reminder that for some, luxury knows no bounds—and that imagination, backed by ambition, can quite literally touch the sky.
