Instagram users are embracing a new trend involving ChatGPT. Instagram users are asking ChatGPT to roast their feeds, with many sharing their humorous experiences online. The trend, which has gone viral, involves asking the AI chatbot to roast their Instagram profiles. Unlike traditional roasts, which can often leave participants feeling uncomfortable, these AI-generated roasts are proving to be both hilarious and surprisingly satisfying.

Instagram users are willingly submitting their profiles to ChatGPT, asking it to critique everything from their bio to their photos. The results? Brutally honest and often laugh-out-loud funny. For instance, ChatGPT might call out someone for following too many people or for having an over-the-top travel-themed feed. These AI-driven roasts have become so popular that users are proudly sharing screenshots of ChatGPT’s critiques, showcasing just how savage the AI can be.

The appeal of these AI-generated roasts lies in ChatGPT’s ability to meticulously analyze every detail of an Instagram profile. It doesn’t just look at the pictures; it scrutinizes the bio, the highlights, and even the analytics. This level of detail has led to some spot-on, albeit harsh, observations. For example, one user with a travel-centric feed was humorously labeled as running a “travel agency,” while another was teased for their follower-to-following ratio.

How the Trend Works

Joining the latest social media craze, Instagram users are asking ChatGPT to roast their feeds. To participate, Instagram users must take a screenshot of their feed and upload it to ChatGPT, with a simple request: “Roast my Instagram feed.” Many users have found the process to be a fun way to take a light-hearted jab at themselves. The trend has taken off, with more than 350,000 users sharing their roasted profiles on Instagram.

The trend began to gain traction after Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas shared his own ChatGPT roast on social media. The AI roast playfully poked fun at Tsitsipas for spending more time philosophizing on Twitter than on his tennis game. This viral moment sparked a wave of similar posts across various social media platforms.

ChatGPT, known for its versatility as a “Swiss army knife for AI,” has not always been recognized for its humor. Earlier studies suggested that its jokes were often repetitive and lacked originality. However, more recent research indicates that ChatGPT’s humor has improved significantly, with many users finding its wisecracks funnier than those made by humans. As AI technology advances, ChatGPT is becoming increasingly adept at mastering traditionally human skills like humor.

Concerns Over Data Privacy

As the trend gains momentum, Instagram users are asking ChatGPT to roast their feeds, leaving many surprised by the AI’s sharp wit. While the trend is largely seen as harmless fun, it raises important questions about data privacy. OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, retains conversations for training purposes and has been criticized for its lack of transparency regarding how user data is handled. Some experts caution against sharing personal information with ChatGPT, as it may not be easily deleted from the AI’s large language model. Users are advised to avoid sharing screenshots that contain sensitive information, such as names, addresses, or identifiable photos.

As more users participate in the trend, the potential risks associated with sharing personal data with AI become more apparent. OpenAI’s data security practices have come under scrutiny, particularly after a cyberattack in 2023 exposed vulnerabilities in the company’s systems. While no user data was compromised, the incident highlighted the importance of safeguarding personal information when using AI tools like ChatGPT.

Despite the privacy concerns, it has provided a unique way for Instagram users to engage with AI while having a laugh at their own expense. For those willing to join the trend, the experience can be entertaining. However, users should remain cautious and mindful of the information they share with AI platforms.
