Yesterday on Monday the tech giant unveiled the new release of iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 5 update for iPhone users only. With this update, it’s as if a little more fun and a lot more ease is injected into your iPhone workflow.Â
Apple Intelligence in Messages: Now You’re Chatting Smarter
There is one big main new addition in the iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 5 update which is Apple Intelligence in the Messages app. This literally is not the kind of texting that people do, you know like writing a text.
From this version if you will open your Messages app unread conversations list, you will get a brief summary of all the unread messages you have. Say no to scrolls through text after text, searching for that one relevant content that you need – now your iPhone does the work for you. You can now build smart replies to respond to messages for instance.
Notes App Gets Smarter Too
If you like the Notes app, you’ll like this one. Of course, Apple Intelligence has arrived here as well. Now, a single tap lets users avail services like proofreading and rewriting with AI technologies. You don’t even need to underline the words —you just stand in and watch Apple’s artificial intelligence work. It was as if the default Notes application decided to attend Apple’s in-house writing school and subsequently passed exams with flying colors.
Control Centre Toggles: Customize and Reset
New toggles that have been successfully integrated in the Control Centre allow you to manage both Wi-Fi and VPN connections. These are super useful if you’re a person using a few different networks, or if you’re going to switch on a VPN connection from time to time. Of course, if you have ever waded through your Control Centre what with all the app icons that just/stats?Â
The good news is that you can now reset it back to the default layout rather quickly. It’s somewhat close to erasing a messed up drawer – and everything is back to being perfect and clean.
Expanded RCS Messaging: More Than Just Texts
One of the most useful new features in this update is improved support for Rich Communication Services (RCS) messages. This means if you are a Telenet, Proximus or BASE user in Belgium or a user of TracFone or C Spire in the United States, you are now able to take advantage of RCS messaging. This means better sharing of multimedia content, notifications and enhanced group conversations.
File Sharing Between iPhone and Mac
Here is a feature that will definitely make life easier for those who love to have interconnectivity of their Apple gadgets. If you have an iPhone with iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 5 and a Mac with macOS 15.1, you will be able to drag files between both gadgets.Â
New Icons and Tweaks: Small Changes, Big Impact
In addition, Apple didn’t just leave it there for the big features. They have also decided to add some small but rather pleasant improvements into the list. This setting now has its dark side looking quite modern, and the icon for the Apple Watch app has been given a slight update. They may seem quite marginal, but they make the interface appear so much cleaner and generally more modern – in essence not dissimilar to brightening up your iPhone a bit.
