Jaguar GT: A Statement, Not a Spec Sheet

The wait is nearly over. This summer, Jaguar is set to pull the covers off its most radical production car in decades, an all-electric, four-door GT that marks a clean break from the brand’s past and a sharp pivot toward ultra-luxury territory.

Still officially unnamed, the Jaguar GT was originally expected earlier, but the delay hasn’t slowed momentum. Early access to a pre-production prototype suggests this isn’t a traditional sports sedan chasing lap times. Instead, Jaguar is leaning into presence, comfort, and drama. Think less track-focused aggression, more grand touring elegance, with a character closer to Bentley than Porsche.

New Platform, Serious Numbers

Under the long, low, wide body sits Jaguar’s all-new Electric Architecture, known internally as JEA. It runs on an 850-volt system and houses a massive 120kWh battery pack. Power comes from three electric motors: one at the front and two at the rear.

Total output is expected to land north of 1,000bhp with a colossal 1,366 N · m of torque. That puts it ahead of even the legendary Bugatti Veyron in raw torque terms. Despite a hefty estimated weight of 2,700kg, Jaguar is targeting a 0–62mph time of around three seconds.

Range is just as headline-worthy. Jaguar claims up to 435 miles on a single charge, with 350kW fast-charging capability allowing roughly 200 miles of range to be added in under 15 minutes.

Designed to Feel Like a Jaguar

Managing that weight is critical, and Jaguar’s engineers have gone all-in. The chassis features twin-chamber air suspension, adaptive dampers, and rear-wheel steering. The latter is designed to give the large GT a turning circle comparable to a Honda Civic, no small claim for a car of this size.

But here’s the thing. Jaguar insists this car isn’t about numbers. According to managing director Rawdon Glover, buyers won’t choose it because it’s electric. They’ll choose it because it looks stunning, feels relaxing, and makes a statement when they step out of it. The powertrain, in his words, sits “a long way down the list.”

Pricing, Positioning, and Bespoke Focus

Expect the Jaguar GT to start around £120,000, with the brand’s new pricing “centre of gravity” closer to £140,000. Jaguar sees a clear gap between high-end premium players and ultra-luxury marques priced well beyond £250,000. That’s the space it wants to own.

There won’t be traditional trim levels. Instead, buyers will get a base car with extensive bespoke options and the promise of limited-run special editions at significantly higher price points.

A New Era Begins in 2026

Orders are expected to open in the second half of 2026, with first customer deliveries following shortly after. More than just a new model, the Jaguar GT represents a philosophical reset. Lower, more dramatic, and unapologetically emotional, it’s Jaguar staking its claim on what a modern luxury EV should be.

Love it or hate it, this is a Jaguar that refuses to blend in. And that, perhaps, is the point.
