LG Electronics and Samsung bet big on AI to redefine their market strategies and drive future growth. LG Electronics is set to introduce its new mobility experience (MX) platform at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025. The platform, showcasing the integration of AI and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, aims to transform vehicles into versatile, personalized spaces.

With the MX platform, LG Electronics and Samsung bet big on AI to transform daily experiences in homes and vehicles. The MX platform is designed to cater to diverse needs, functioning as a creative workspace or a relaxing environment for reading, watching movies, or unwinding. A concept vehicle featuring the MX platform, themed “Lifestyle Solution for Mobility,” will be on display at the event, which starts next Tuesday in Las Vegas, according to reports.

LG Electronics highlighted that the MX platform aligns with its vision for the “AI Home Era,” extending AI-powered solutions beyond homes to vehicles and commercial spaces. The company stated, “The MX platform merges LG’s advanced home appliance technologies with the AI Home concept to offer a unique spatial solution.”

Samsung Emphasizes AI Innovation for 2025

Samsung Electronics outlined its strategic priorities for 2025, focusing on driving innovation to lead the AI era. In a New Year’s message, co-CEOs Han Jong-hee and Jun Young-hyun pledged to advance “super-gap technologies” to sustain a competitive edge in the evolving AI landscape.

The leaders emphasized the importance of bold innovation, stating, “AI is at a critical turning point, requiring breakthroughs beyond traditional approaches.” The company plans to invest heavily in future technologies and talent while developing new products and business models.

Samsung has strengthened its AI and quality-focused divisions to enhance competitiveness. The executives urged employees to aim for leadership in both technology and quality.

In light of the nationwide mourning period for victims of the recent Jeju Air tragedy, Samsung Electronics has canceled its annual kick-off event for the year.

Both LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics are making bold moves to position themselves as leaders in the AI-driven future. While LG focuses on redefining mobility, Samsung is doubling down on innovation to strengthen its competitive edge. However, their approaches raise important questions about feasibility and the broader implications of their strategies.

LG’s MX Platform

LG’s MX platform presents a visionary approach by merging AI and IoT technologies to transform vehicles into multifunctional spaces. This aligns well with the growing demand for personalization in consumer technology. By integrating its home appliance expertise, LG adds a unique edge to its mobility solutions.

However, executing this vision may face hurdles. The automotive industry is already competitive, with established players investing heavily in AI-driven mobility. LG must ensure that its concept vehicles are practical, scalable, and compatible with real-world needs. Furthermore, convincing consumers to adapt to such futuristic spaces will require significant efforts in marketing and usability testing.

Samsung’s Push for “Super-Gap Technologies”

LG Electronics and Samsung bet big on AI through innovative products like LG’s MX platform and Samsung’s “super-gap technologies.” Samsung’s focus on “super-gap technologies” signals its ambition to lead in AI innovation. By prioritizing future-oriented investments and talent development, the company is setting a strong foundation for long-term growth. Its decision to strengthen AI-specific departments demonstrates strategic foresight.

However, this aggressive strategy could backfire if new technologies fail to gain traction. AI innovation often involves unpredictable outcomes, and competition in this field is intense. Samsung must balance its ambition with practical applications that provide immediate value to consumers. Additionally, as it scales investments in AI, maintaining quality and reliability will be critical to preserving its market reputation.
