For Microsoft Teams users, there is a piece of news that you might want to know about. Microsoft is as always bringing new features in Teams to make your experiences even more seamless. While they are busy stuffing your face with more, you are also tossing some of those features out of your app that don’t seem to be pulling their weight anymore.
Say Goodbye to These Features
That being said, Google going head to head with Microsoft is not a big surprise as the firm drops five features from Teams. Let’s walk through them:
Live Location Sharing – This one is big. Some features from the previous version, such as sharing your live location with your contacts, are going to be a thing of the past. If you were using it to plan meetups or just to flaunt your position during a meeting, it is high time you to export any wanted location data.
Safe in Teams – If you have been using Teams as a place where you keep personal and company’s important data and information, time to pack your bags! This feature enabled you to take moments with priorities across different devices, and now, it’s on the list of features that Microsoft can do without.
Mini Teams – Who can say it’s not for them to have a small window hanging out in the corner of your screen? However, Mini Teams, which allowed you to maintain a small chat window, will be removed in the near future. There is no big striking window like in the case of other messengers to occupy your working screen for instance when you are typing simultaneously.
Google Calendar Sync – Here’s another feature getting axed: Among the changes, you will lose the possibility to integrate your Google Calendar with Teams. If you’re listening to this because you’ve been effectively segregating your work and personal life by integrating them into one calendar, well, time to go back to compartmentalizing again.
Sharing To-Do Lists with Groups – Got tasks to share with your team?. Teams will no longer let you share to-do items with either contacts or group lists.
Who’s Affected?
But worry no more, here are some quick facts you may need to know before you start sweating. Of course, these changes are only being applied to the free version of Teams. For those who are using the paid version of Teams, you have nothing to worry about! None of these features will be removed and could affect your workflow. But for the free users this is time to explain: before all these options are gone – export all you need.
New Features Are Coming!
Who could blame us for getting a bit emotional when the company says ‘sayonara’ to these conveniences? But, as you’ll soon see, Microsoft is not throwing consumers to the wolves. Indeed, they are developing new items and new versions of the tools they offer non-stop. In fact, there’s a good number of new features that Microsoft has implemented just last month and you know what? That’s not yet for this month, here we go! As for what to expect, Microsoft refreshes its roadmap site with details of all the features forthcoming to Teams and other Microsoft 365 apps.
What Should You Do Now?
For any of you free Teams users who depended on any of the features that are going to be removed soon, the next best move you can make is to download your data. And while you are at it bear to watch the new updates that will enable Teams to be perhaps the smoothest and most secure platform in the market.
Yes the change is painful, yet with every disappearing feature we get a new opening.
Therefore, buckle up, set your data moving, and stay tuned to the Microsoft Teams that is yet to happen. Who knows, maybe those new features will help to distract you from everything you’re going to lose.
