About Mario vs, Donkey Kong
Nintendo Software Technology created the 2004 puzzle-platform game Mario vs. Donkey Kong, which was published for the Game Boy Advance. The game is essentially the Game Boy version of Donkey Kong, which debuted in 1994. The goal of the game is to challenge Mario to discover keys, open a locked door, and save mini-Marios by combining platform and puzzle components.
A throwback to the classic arcade games, Mario vs. Donkey Kong had several components from the Game Boy version. Its design was similar to other games, yet it was still based on the Rare Donkey Kong concept. Originally a villain, Donkey Kong takes on a new role in the game when he visits a nearby toy store and discovers that all of the Mini Mario clockwork toys are sold out. Furious, he scares the factory Toads and takes the toys. This sets up the game’s premise, as Mario follows Donkey Kong until he can steal the Mini Marios back from Donkey Kong.
There is secret e-reader support in the game. A tournament was sponsored by Nintendo in Japan where 1,000 contestants received cards. CoroCoro Comic issued five level cards, and at the 20th World Hobby Fair, another card was given away. Up to 12 extra levels can be saved in the game. The original game will be remade and launched on the Nintendo Switch on February 16, 2024.
