With the successful completion of an extended Series A investment round at ₹100 crore (about $12 million), electric motorcycle startup Oben Electric has accelerated its growth trajectory and raised ₹200 crore ($24 million) in total since its founding. Strong investor confidence is indicated by this strategic investment as the business prepares for quick growth both domestically and internationally in India.

Renewed Investor Confidence Fuels Oben’s Momentum

The Series A round, which initially kicked off in January 2025, was extended in May to accommodate fresh capital. Backers in this tranche include both new and returning investors such as Helios Holdings, the Sharda family office, and the Kay family. Their continued support highlights Oben’s growing credibility and operational execution.

“This extended Series A funding is a strong vote of confidence from our investors and comes at a time when our momentum is accelerating nationwide,” said Madhumita Agrawal, Co-founder and CEO of Oben Electric.

Retail Expansion: 150+ Showrooms by FY26

Oben is channeling its new funds into an ambitious expansion blueprint that aims to position it as a dominant player in the electric two-wheeler market. Key focus areas include:

  • Establishing 150+ showrooms across 50 cities by FY26

  • Scaling its Bengaluru-based manufacturing capacity

  • Accelerating innovation under its new mass-market “O100” platform

  • Strengthening after-sales support through its “Oben Care” ecosystem

The ‘O100’ platform aims to democratize electric motorcycles by offering affordable, high-performance models under ₹1 lakh—catering to India’s value-conscious, mass-market audience.

Manufacturing Muscle in Bengaluru

Oben Electric operates a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Jigani, Bengaluru, with an annual production capacity of 100,000 units. What sets Oben apart is its full-stack approach: the company designs and builds critical components in-house, including:

  • LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries

  • High-efficiency electric motors

  • Vehicle control units (VCUs)

  • Home fast chargers

This vertically integrated model allows Oben to maintain strict quality control, innovate quickly, and cut costs—essential advantages in the competitive EV space.

Growing Retail Footprint Across India

Since the beginning of 2025, Oben has aggressively expanded its physical presence, launching 37 showrooms across 26 cities in 13 states. The brand’s presence now spans Tier 1 to Tier 3 markets, with high traction in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh.

This aligns with India’s ongoing shift to electric mobility, driven by soaring fuel prices, improved charging infrastructure, and greater environmental awareness in smaller towns.

Products That Pack a Punch: Rorr & Rorr EZ

Oben’s flagship models—the Rorr and the recently launched Rorr EZ—reflect its focus on high-performance, affordable EVs. The Rorr EZ, priced at ₹99,999 (ex-showroom), boasts:

  • 0–40 km/h in 3.3 seconds

  • 95 km/h top speed

  • 175 km IDC-certified range

The use of LFP batteries ensures thermal stability, longevity, and safety—vital for India’s climate and road conditions. Oben’s robust R&D has also resulted in 25+ patents and 200+ performance tests on each unit, underlining its engineering depth.

Taking On the Competition

Oben faces fierce competition from fellow EV startups like Tork Motors and legacy automakers entering the electric segment. However, Oben’s deep-tech DNA and full-stack manufacturing strategy offer a distinctive edge in product performance, customization, and cost control.

Looking Ahead: Global Foray and Series B Plans

Oben isn’t just betting on India. It is gearing up to raise a $30 million Series B round by late 2025 or early 2026, aimed at:

  • Entering Southeast Asian and African markets

  • Expanding its product portfolio into electric scooters and bikes

  • Doubling production capacity

“We are committed to building a global EV brand from India, designed for India, but scalable worldwide,” said Agrawal.

Conclusion

With a clear vision, strong manufacturing skills, and ₹100 crore in fresh funding, Oben Electric is well-positioned to play a significant role in India’s green transportation revolution. Oben is genuinely igniting the future of reasonably priced and environmentally friendly two-wheeler mobility as it expands its showroom presence and gets ready for international endeavors.
