Riding the AI Wave in SaaS

The SaaS industry is undergoing a massive transformation. Enterprises are no longer satisfied with experimenting with AI—they now demand real, measurable outcomes.

Rocketlane’s co-founder Srikrishnan Ganesan captures this shift perfectly: while AI tools are abundant, bridging the gap between software capabilities and business outcomes still requires human-driven execution.

This is where professional services teams come in—helping companies implement, customize, and extract value from software deployments.

Rocketlane’s platform focuses precisely on this gap, enabling organizations to manage customer onboarding, implementation, and service delivery more effectively.

From Project Tracking to AI Execution

Rocketlane is no longer just a project management tool.

With the launch of its new AI platform, Nitro, the company is evolving into an AI-powered execution engine. Nitro introduces AI agents capable of handling repetitive yet critical tasks such as:

  • Documentation
  • Data migration
  • Workflow automation

This marks a significant shift—from tracking work to automating execution itself.

The platform also introduces a consumption-based pricing model, moving away from traditional per-seat SaaS pricing. This aligns with a broader industry trend where customers pay for outcomes and usage, not just access.

Scaling Ambitions: Where the $60M Will Go

The fresh capital brings Rocketlane’s total funding to $105 million, following its $24 million Series B round in 2024 backed by investors like Matrix Partners India and Nexus Venture Partners.

The company plans to deploy this new funding across three key areas:

1. Deepening AI Capabilities

Rocketlane is now effectively building two products simultaneously—its core PSA platform and the AI-driven Nitro layer. This will significantly increase investments in research and development.

2. Enterprise Expansion

The startup is witnessing strong upmarket traction, meaning larger enterprises are adopting its platform. To capitalize on this, Rocketlane will strengthen its enterprise sales and go-to-market strategies.

3. Global Growth

Rocketlane is doubling down on international expansion, particularly across:

  • India
  • The United States
  • The United Kingdom

This includes hiring senior leadership and expanding teams across regions.

Built by Freshworks Veterans

Rocketlane’s founding team brings deep SaaS expertise. The company was launched in April 2020 by:

  • Srikrishnan Ganesan
  • Vignesh Balasubramanian
  • Deepak Bala

All three previously worked at Freshworks, where they built and scaled multiple products. This shared experience has played a key role in shaping Rocketlane’s product-first and execution-focused approach.

The Bigger Picture: Professional Services Take Center Stage

According to Apoorva Goyal, professional services teams are the “engines of enterprise software”—the function that converts signed deals into real-world outcomes.

Rocketlane’s AI-first platform is designed to help these teams scale their impact without increasing headcount, a critical advantage in today’s cost-conscious environment.

What Lies Ahead

While Rocketlane has not made any acquisitions yet, it remains open to strategic opportunities. Interestingly, the company is already seeing inbound interest from startups looking for exits—an indication of its growing influence in the PSA space.

As AI continues to redefine how software is built and consumed, Rocketlane is betting that execution—not just innovation—will be the ultimate differentiator.

And in that future, professional services—supercharged by AI—may finally get the spotlight they deserve.
