As the summer inauguration window approaches, the rumor mill is starting to heat up around Samsung’s next flagship foldables and if the latest leaks are accurate, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be the sleekest and most futuristic folding phone we’ve seen yet. According to renowned leaker @UniverseIce, Samsung is preparing to release a device that’s not only thinner and lighter than ever, but also shaves down bezel size to an almost surreal degree.

In a tweet that’s set off waves of buzz across the tech community, @UniverseIce claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will feature bezels as slim as 1 millimeter around the internal display. That’s almost half the size of the 1.9 mm bezels found on the current Z Fold 6 a change that may sound minor on paper but dramatically impacts the feel of a foldable device in hand. Combined with some new information about the device’s overall dimensions, it’s becoming clear that Samsung is pushing for refinement over revolution in this year’s model and that might be the smartest move yet

The leaked dimensions point to a gadget that, when unfolded, will measure 158.4 mm tall and 143.1 mm wide, compared to the Z Fold 6’s 153.5 mm by 132.6 mm. That means the Fold 7 is slightly taller and noticeably wider a move that could address one of the most common complaints about Samsung’s foldables: the narrow cover display that feels cramped for everyday use.

But what’s really jaw-dropping is the reported 3.9 mm thickness when the device is fully open. That’s significantly thinner than the Z Fold 6’s 5.6 mm nearly a 30% reduction. To put it in perspective, this would make the Z Fold 7 thinner than the current reigning champion of slim foldables, the Oppo Find N5, which measures 4.21 mm. If accurate, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could not only reclaim the title of the best foldable, but also the thinnest.

Bezels on a Diet

Of course, foldables are all about that big inner screen. And it looks like Samsung is finally ready to shed the last remaining distractions from its immersive display. The leaked 1 mm bezel size might seem like a trivial technical detail, but in reality, it represents years of engineering refinement. Thinner bezels don’t just look better they also make a device more compact, improve screen-to-body ratio, and deliver a more premium, edge-to-edge feel that enhances everything from gaming to multitasking.

And it’s not just the Fold that’s getting the skinny treatment. The upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also expected to feature ultra-thin bezels, clocking in at just 1.2 mm. It seems Samsung is embracing a new design philosophy across its foldable lineup sleek, minimalist, and uncompromisingly modern.

In the world of smartphones, there’s always a trade-off between design and endurance, and slimming a device down by nearly a third is bound to impact how much battery Samsung can squeeze inside. While there’s no official word yet on battery specs, it’s a question many potential buyers are already asking.

Will Samsung compromise on battery to chase design? Or will it surprise us with new battery tech that allows for both thinness and stamina? That remains to be seen, but it’s a gamble Samsung might be willing to take to keep the Fold 7 competitive against sleeker rivals like the Pixel Fold 2 and the upcoming OnePlus V Flip.

All Signs Point to July

If Samsung follows its usual release cadence, we can expect the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (along with the Z Flip 7 and possibly a tri-fold phone) to be unveiled sometime in July. That tri-fold, if real, could be Samsung’s next frontier a more experimental device aimed at power users, while the Fold 7 perfects the current formula.

And let’s not forget this leak comes just days before the highly anticipated launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung’s thinnest flagship smartphone yet. That phone reportedly sports a 5.8 mm chassis and hints at a broader company-wide trend: less bulk, more screen, and refined, modern aesthetics across the board.

If these leaks prove accurate, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 isn’t about radical reinvention it’s about polish. It’s about taking everything Samsung has learned over six generations of foldables and distilling it into the cleanest, most elegant form possible. No chunky bezels. No excessive thickness. Just a smooth, seamless experience that brings foldables ever closer to feeling like “normal” phones only better.

Of course, we’ll have to wait for Samsung’s Unpacked event to know for sure. But one thing is clear: the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is shaping up to be a major leap forward not in flashy gimmicks, but in the kind of subtle design evolution that makes a great phone feel exceptional in your hand.
