A gameplay trailer revealing a new plot, characters, and map along with the release date for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, the first significant expansion for the critically acclaimed action role-playing game, was released. On June 21, the DLC will be available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. Preorders for the game are already open on all of these platforms. Players will solve a new mystery surrounding Malenia’s brother, as Shadow of the Erdtree follows Miquella.
Exploring the Mysteries of Elden Ring’s Land of Shadow DLC
The new area known as the Land of Shadow, which transports players beyond the Lands Between, is where the DLC will take place. “The Shadow Land.” A location hidden behind the Erdtree.
The first place the goddess Marika stepped. A land cleansed in a silent war. Â Lighted with Messmer’s torch. This is the territory that Miquella left behind giving up his body, his might, and his heritage. Of all that is Golden. And now Miquella waits for his promised Lord to return,” the description of FromSoftware says.
Though mysterious as always, the three-minute gameplay video gave fans enough material to conjure up speculations regarding the main mystery by showcasing several new bosses, adversaries, and new surroundings. The withered limb of Miquella is shown hanging from his cocoon in the first scene of the trailer. Come on, now. The trailer goes on to add, “Touch the withered arm, and travel to the realm of shadow,” implying that holding or caressing Miquella’s arm will allow you to enter the new Land of Darkness area.
Beyond the Erdtree: A New Villain Rules the Ruined Land of Shadow in Elden Ring’s DLC
The teaser for the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC features a new antagonist named Messmer the Impaler as the final boss. Messmer rules over the Land of Shadow, which he has left in ruins with his flames. Although FromSoftware has not yet provided any information on the new character, fans are eagerly waiting to dissect the teaser and identify all of the hidden hints.
A substantial new narrative in Shadow of the Erdtree will send gamers on a brand-new journey across the Land of Shadow. The tale description of the DLC states,
“Led by Empyrean Miquella, players are invited to the Land of Shadow, a location hidden by the Erdtree where the goddess Marika first set foot. Players discover the dark secrets of the world in these strange new lands as they encounter others who follow in Miquella’s footsteps with hidden agendas.”
Apart from the Lands Between in the main game, Elden Ring has a whole new area called the Land of Shadow. Although the new map’s exact dimensions are unclear, FromSoftware claims that its “vast” new area will let players move between different parts with ease. Similar to the Lands Between, the new area will be varied, presenting players with brand-new dungeons, secrets, adversaries, and circumstances.
With a June 21 release date, Shadow of the Erdtree is presently available for pre-order on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox stores. Remember that to play the expansion, you must first play the main game.
