Tesla posted job postings on its website, saying it is hiring for the “Semi Service Program”. According to the post, Tesla is looking for some experienced service technicians as Semi service program is going to expand. Recently Elon Musk stated that Tesla is going to start Tesla Semi deliveries later this year. It appears that Tesla is preparing the same.
Effectively Tesla is looking for more Semi service technicians. The automaker first started hiring for its Semi Service Program last year and is now looking to acquire additional staff ahead of customer deliveries. The key aspects of the job were also outlined, as were the locations that are hiring. “Our goal is to find experienced technicians looking to take their careers to the next level. They will be supporting product and service development, as well as being the FIRST technicians to provide an in-person service to our new customers at our locations..” The locations are Fremont, Sacramento, Modesto, and Central Valley, all of these locations are in CA. So potentially the first deliveries are going to be for CA customers in the US.
Customers
Walmart, Pepsi, and DHL are just a few of several companies with Tesla Semi orders. In terms of specs, the standard $150,000 Tesla Semi is powered by a ginormous 600 kWh battery and is capable of 300 miles per charge. Meanwhile, an even larger 1,000 kWh pack is available for an extra $30,000 and provides 500 miles of range.
The Semi can charge from 0-70% in as little as 30 minutes and has an 82,000 lbs total weight capacity limit. Tesla also claims each Semi will save fleet operators an average of $200,000 in fuel over their first three years of ownership. There is no similar job posting on Tesla’s Careers website for Canada, even though Canadian customers have placed orders for several hundred Tesla Semi trucks.
Pride Group Enterprises ordered 150 units, with an option for 500, and Walmart Canada has ordered 130 units. Several are also going to be delivered to Vancouver Island. Mosaic Forest Management is hoping to become the first company to haul logs with a fully electric truck, and Quality Foods will use the Semi to transport goods between their stores.
The tasks mentioned on the website point to deliveries of the Tesla Semi starting soon. Tesla is also hiring for its Semi production program in Nevada as it ramps up production of the electric trucks. It states that technicians will be working alongside Engineering and development and will be part of the first Semi Service technicians if they join.
