Valve has emerged out to be extremely rich, with its per-employee money being greater than Amazon, Microsoft and Netflix’s combined amount. With its remarkable journey in this field, it has become the blazing inspiration for many startups who are working in the same field. In this article, we will discuss about Valve and how it become a leading name as a gaming giant.

What is Valve?

Valve Corporation is an America-based video game developer. It has even developed the much-loved software distribution platform of “Steam”. Valve Corporation was founded in 1996 by two ex-Microsoft employees with a vision in mind. Since then, they have developed and launched innumerable games, including “Episode 2″ and ‘Left 4 Dead”. Currently, it is no longer identified simply as a game developer, but a flaming gaming giant that has made its name rank among the top rungs of the ladder.

Does a Valve employee really make more money than Amazon and Microsoft?

Yes, it is true and confirmed by the employees themselves. While there are other facts and features of Valve to speak about its uniqueness and popularity, this statement seems to be highlighted in the media over and over again. Although we do not have a current update on it, the past statistics are pretty clear. If we believe these statistics, we can see a comparative analysis of the pay scale offered by these companies and Valve.

As of 2018, Facebook was ranked as number two in terms of paying their employees well on an hourly basis. The statistics claimed the per-hour average salary of a Facebook employee in 2018 to be $89. This was still much better than the per-hour salaries offered by Microsoft and especially Amazon, with the per-hour pay of just $1.81. So, if we look at it objectively, we have our answer. Yes, a Valve employee makes more money than Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook or Netflix.

The team and working culture of Valve

It can be quite a surprise but, looking at the digits of turnover, it is hard to digest that the Valve Corporation has a considerably small pool of employees. Unlike other companies like Facebook, Amazon and Microsoft, that have thousands of employees, Valve has a far smaller group of people working for them.

As per 2021 data, Valve Corporation only had 336 employees in its team. Surprising, isn’t it? Well, who could have imagined a company performing so well in the business world and having just a handful of employees working in the background?

How did Valve become such a hit?

There is no mistaking that Valve Corporation is really a big name now! With great launches and consistent progress, it has become a leading name in the gaming world. But the success story needs more than that! We will try to explain it based on our understanding. The employees at Valve often talk about the idea of working without the “traditional hierarchy in the workplace”. Also, they have kept just a handful of people who focus on the tiniest of issues and pay attention to the working details. It isn’t just about expansion for them, but to look after what already exists.

Thus, we see that Valve Corporation and their working culture has produced a fine example of one of a kind. Let’s see if any huge companies take an inspiration from it or not. Because it sure has given dazzling results!
