Volkswagen ID. Buzz Electric Van's Price Reveal Sparks Disappointment Among Fans
TwitterWhatsappLinkedin

Volkswagen surprised with an unexpected twist after it marked the return of the classic VW bus with an electrified version of it. The new ID. Buzz has seven seats with a range of up to 234 miles. The mini-bus pricing begins from $59,995. The VW ID Buzz is a complete family-oriented vehicle for long trips with family providing modern amenities. It is built, giving most importance to the idea of sustainability, including its parts are made of recycled plastics, which were collected from the sea.

The Buzz has two rows of seats in its five-seat European variant, but it has three rows in its seven-seat American model. Put otherwise, even if Volkswagen won’t refer to it as a minivan, this is one. A 10-inch larger wheelbase and about equal increase in overall length enable the additional seating. Since the front and rear overhangs on both variants are the same, the extra length has been put between the axles, where it is most needed, to expand the crucial living space.

The ID. Buzz comes in two body styles: the standard passenger van and a cargo version. The passenger van, available in three trim levels, starts at a base price of €57,595 in Germany. The cargo version, aimed at commercial customers, is priced from €53,995. These figures have prompted some to question whether the ID. Buzz’s premium positioning is justified, especially when compared to other electric vehicles in the market.

Pro S Model: Base Price and Features

One of the factors contributing to the ID. Buzz’s higher price tag is its unique design. The retro-inspired styling, reminiscent of the classic Volkswagen Type 2 Microbus, adds complexity and cost to the manufacturing process. Additionally, the van’s spacious interior and advanced technology features, such as a large touchscreen infotainment system and a suite of driver assistance aids, also contribute to the higher price point.

There is a $1,550 destination fee excluded from the prices listed below for each of the three launch-specific trims:

Pro S: $59,995.

This base model has a 234-mile range and rear-wheel drive. It has a second-row bench that can accommodate seven people.

Price for Pro S Plus: $63,495 (AWD) or $67,995 (RWD)

The mid-trim model, available with rear- or all-wheel drive, has an optional six-seat captain’s chair in the back and a panoramic electrochromic smart glass roof for $1,495 dollars. The range decreases to 231 miles in AWD variants. $65,495 (RWD) or $69,995 (AWD) for the first edition. The limited model, which will only be available at launch, has two-tone paint and an interior designed by Dune with RWD bench seating or AWD captain chairs.

Design Appeal: A Nod to Iconic Heritage

Volkswagen is aware of the competitive landscape and has emphasized the ID. Buzz’s unique selling points. The automaker has highlighted the van’s iconic design, which it believes will appeal to a wide range of customers. Additionally, Volkswagen has emphasized the ID. Buzz’s potential as a family vehicle, offering a spacious and comfortable interior.

It remains to be seen whether the ID. Buzz will be able to justify its premium pricing in the long run. While the van’s combination of style, practicality, and electric power is undoubtedly appealing, the high price tag may deter some potential buyers. Volkswagen will need to effectively communicate the value proposition of the ID. Buzz to convince consumers that it is worth the premium.

In conclusion, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz has faced a somewhat subdued reception following the announcement of its pricing. While the van’s iconic design and electric powertrain have garnered attention, the high price tag has raised questions among potential buyers. Volkswagen remains confident in the ID. Buzz’s appeal, but it will need to effectively communicate the van’s value proposition to justify its premium pricing.
