New PC releases like Crimson Desert are already showing lower prices outside official stores just days after launch. The gap between platforms can reach several dozen percent within the first week, which was rare not long ago.

Buying PC games used to be simple. You opened one store, checked the price, and bought it – that was enough. Now it is different. The same game can appear in a few places at once, and the prices do not match, so even a quick comparison between two or three listings can show a noticeable gap. Sometimes the difference is small. Sometimes it is not. One store keeps the launch price, another already goes lower. No clear rule.

Cheap PC games 2026 – where price differences come from

Crimson Desert launched on March 19, 2026 as one of the bigger releases this year. What matters here is not the game itself, but what happened with pricing right after launch. Official stores kept the launch price, but other listings started going lower almost right away – some by around 40% within the first few days, which caught a lot of people off guard. This usually comes from where the keys are sourced. Different regions, earlier batches, sometimes both. As soon as those keys show up on the open market, the price gap becomes hard to ignore.

This happens with other games too. You can see it with recent releases like Resident Evil Requiem, where prices in some stores drop by around 45% shortly after launch, even without any major sale.

Multi-store pricing model

A PC game does not really have one price anymore. It has several, depending on where you look. Official stores follow their own pace and keep prices stable for a while, but other sellers move faster because they react to stock rather than official pricing.

Regional pricing is part of this. The same game can cost less in one country and more in another. That gap always existed. What changed is how fast it spreads now. Once cheaper keys appear outside their original region, prices start to shift. Sometimes within days.

Early discounts on new releases

New releases do not hold their price the way they used to. Most people do not even notice because they never check anywhere else. Lower offers can show up very early. Not because of sales, just because sellers adjust faster now.

Looking through cheap pc games listings makes this easier to see. Prices change often – some deals disappear within hours while others last a bit longer, but not by much.
Waiting for big sales is still an option. Just not the only one anymore.

Why prices change so quickly?

It mostly comes down to two things: region and timing. Regional pricing creates the gap. Timing decides when it actually shows up.

Sellers with early access to keys do not really wait. If they can go lower, they do. That is why price differences show up so quickly after release.

Plenty of people still buy from the same store every time. It is familiar. Easy. But that usually means paying more than necessary.

Checking one or two other sources takes a moment, and in many cases that alone is enough to find a better deal.
