Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has officially pulled the wraps off its first all-electric SUV, the Xiaomi YU7, setting the stage for a bold entry into the premium EV space. Scheduled for a formal launch and pricing reveal in July 2025, the YU7 showcases Xiaomi’s ambition to redefine mobility with cutting-edge design, next-gen technology, and performance that rivals luxury EVs from established players.
Built on Innovation: Modena Platform and Distinctive Design
The YU7 is built on Xiaomi’s in-house Modena platform, a modular EV architecture that underpins the brand’s future electric vehicles. Measuring 4999 mm in length with a generous 3000 mm wheelbase, the YU7 combines the stature of a full-size SUV with sleek, aerodynamic styling.
A true head-turner, the YU7 will be offered in nine vibrant colour options, including a striking green inspired by Colombian emeralds. The flush-fitting electric door handles, ultra-slim LED lighting, and frameless UWB-based keyless entry give it a seamless, high-tech appeal, further enhanced by customizable ambient lighting that adds a sense of luxury to every ride.
HyperVision Interior: Where Tech Meets Comfort
The YU7’s cabin is where Xiaomi’s technological pedigree truly shines. The SUV features a dramatic 43-inch “HyperVision” display spanning the dashboard, integrating three Mini LED screens that deliver crystal-clear visuals and a futuristic user experience. At the heart of the system is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, ensuring blazing-fast performance and ultra-smooth interaction across apps and vehicle functions.
Xiaomi hasn’t compromised on comfort either. The YU7 features zero-gravity Nappa leather seats with 10-point massage, ventilation, and deep recline capabilities. Rear passengers aren’t left behind—they get a dedicated 6.68-inch touchscreen for media, climate, and seat control, setting a new benchmark for in-cabin luxury in the EV segment.

Safety First: Reinforced Batteries and Extensive Testing

While the YU7 was initially slated for debut at the Shanghai Motor Show, its unveiling was delayed due to an incident involving one of Xiaomi’s autonomous test vehicles. The company has since reaffirmed its commitment to safety and transparency in its EV program.
What’s Next?
With the YU7, Xiaomi signals its serious intent to disrupt the EV market. The SUV combines bold aesthetics, futuristic tech, and uncompromising performance—offering a compelling alternative to established electric SUVs from Tesla, BYD, and BMW. Pricing details and market availability will be officially revealed at a special launch event in July.
As Xiaomi ventures beyond smartphones and smart homes into smart mobility, the YU7 may just be the beginning of a new chapter in consumer technology evolution.
