Porsche has officially confirmed that the 911 Speedster concept which was launched to celebrate brands 70th Anniversary, will go into production. The Speedster will be produced in a limited number of 1948, marking the year of company’s foundation.
The announcement has been made at the ongoing 2018 Paris Motors Show where the German brand also released images of the Speedster in the gorgeous Guards Red colour, similar to the 1988 911 Speedster. Apart from the new shade, the newly revealed example gets 21-inch centre-lock wheels similar to the Porsche racing cars and the red colour job has also been applied to the daytime running lights to complement the body.
To contrast the red exterior, the Speedster has an all-black leather interior and glossy black finished side mirrors with a platinum touch that gives it a premium finish. Being a convertible, it gets the chopped windscreen and double-bubble rear cowling for practicality.
The bodywork of the 911 Speedster will be based on the Carrera 4 Cabriolet, with carbon-fiber fenders and hoods, while the chassis and suspension will be borrowed from the 911 GT3. Also, the exhaust system was engineered by the company’s GT department with titanium tips. Making it a perfect combination of all the best expertise Porsche has under its roof.
The motor in the Speedster will also be taken straight out of GT3 which is the naturally-aspiated flat-six engine producing 500 horsepower. The good news for the purists is that the 911 Speedster comes with 6-speed manual gearbox, a rarity nowadays.
Porsche hasn’t revealed more details about the car yet except that the production will begin next year.
