2020 Porsche 911 Cabriolet launch

Porsche has unveiled the 2020 911 Cabriolet with a new soft-top and generation changing updates over the outgoing model. Just like the coupe version, the 911 Cabriolet is also available in Carrera S and Carrera 4S variants as of now.

Porsche revealed the 2020 911 Coupe less than two months ago at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. Expectedly, the 911 Carrera S Cabriolet and Carrera 4S Cabriolet have the same cosmetic changes as the coupe versions that include new LED headlights, slightly revised air intakes, reshaped hood and the long taillight bar at the rear.

The big change of course, is the new soft-top in the 911 Carrera. The 2020 911 Cabriolet features a new electronic roof that can be opened and closed in just 12 seconds at up to a speed of 50 km/h. The roof has a lightweight structure that has magnesium bows to prevent “ballooning of the roof at high speed.”

The 911 Cabriolet packs the same flat-six turbocharged engines as the coupe version that develops 443 horsepower and 530Nm of torque. The standard 8-speed PDK dual clutch transmission sends the power to either rear or all four wheels and rockets the Convertible from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds in the Carrera S and 3.6 seconds in the Carrera 4S. This is about 0.2 seconds slower than the respective coupe versions.

The cabin is also identical to the coupe version and gets 10.9-inch touchscreen display with the new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system and other comprehensive connectivity features. The only different is the control switch that opens and closes the roof.

Porsche has started taking pre-orders for the 2020 911 Cabriolet. The deliveries are expected to begin in the summer this year.
