Kia has officially launched the 2025 K4 sedan, a successor to the popular Forte, with a starting price of $23,145 including destination. This represents a $2,000 increase over the outgoing model, a move justified by Kia as necessary to incorporate a range of new features and technologies.
The base LX trim, while pricier, comes standard with a suite of features previously considered optional or unavailable. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and four USB-C ports are now standard equipment. Kia aims to position the K4 as a more technologically advanced offering compared to its predecessor.
Kia Expands the K4 Lineup with Enhanced Trims and Premium Interior Features for 2025
The lineup expands to three trims: LX, LXS, and EX. The LXS, priced at $24,145, adds alloy wheels, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, and additional tech features. The top-tier EX, priced at $25,145, offers upgraded cloth seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and wireless smartphone charging.
Powering the K4 is a familiar 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine generating 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. A CVT is the sole transmission option. While not a performance-oriented setup, the engine is expected to provide adequate power and fuel efficiency for the target audience.
Kia has placed a strong emphasis on design and interior quality with the K4. The sedan boasts a more mature and sophisticated look compared to the sportier Forte. The interior is designed to offer a premium feel, with improved materials and noise insulation. The automaker aims to create a more refined driving experience overall.
A Blend of Safety, Performance, and Premium Features
Safety remains a priority for Kia, and the K4 comes standard with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Features such as forward collision avoidance, lane-keeping assist, and driver attention warning are included across the lineup. Higher trims add blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe-exit assist.
The more powerful 190 horsepower turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four is available to those who are willing to pay at least $29,245 for the GT-Line Turbo. The GT-Line Turbo is the only K4 with standard fake leather seats and full LED lighting throughout, in addition to having the same suspension and heated, motorized driver’s seat as the 2.0-liter GT-Line. In addition, the Turbo gets an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system as standard and air vents for the back seats.
While the higher starting price might position the K4 as a more premium offering, it will face stiff competition from established rivals like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. Kia is confident that the car’s combination of design, technology, and safety features will attract buyers.
The 2025 Kia K4 is scheduled to arrive in dealerships in September 2024.
