Audi has taken the wraps off the all-new 2027 Q7, bringing significant upgrades to its flagship three-row luxury SUV without straying far from the formula that has made it one of the segment’s strongest contenders. While the outgoing generation has been on sale since 2017, Audi’s latest refresh focuses on enhancing performance, technology, and comfort rather than reinventing the wheel.
The result is a more powerful, more sophisticated Q7 that aims to remain a benchmark in the premium SUV market.
Familiar Proportions with a Sharper Presence
At first glance, the new Q7 looks instantly recognizable. Audi has retained the SUV’s overall footprint, with the wheelbase remaining at 118 inches and the overall length stretching to 199 inches. However, subtle changes give it a more commanding stance.
The SUV is slightly wider and noticeably taller than before, thanks to a straighter roofline that not only improves its road presence but also contributes to better interior space. Buyers can choose wheels up to 22 inches on the standard Q7, while the performance-focused SQ7 can be equipped with massive 23-inch alloys.
Audi’s Most Advanced Lighting Yet
The standout feature of the new Q7 is undoubtedly its lighting technology.
For the first time, Audi is bringing its Digital Matrix LED headlights to the U.S. market. These advanced lights can selectively dim individual LEDs to prevent glare for oncoming drivers while allowing the driver to keep the high beams active.
Audi has also introduced projected turn signals that cast directional indicators onto the road surface, a feature designed to improve visibility for pedestrians and cyclists in busy urban environments.
Adding to the visual flair are customizable OLED taillights, configurable daytime running light signatures, and even an illuminated grille.
A More Practical and Premium Interior
Inside, Audi has focused on flexibility and luxury. The Q7 now offers a choice between second-row captain’s chairs and a traditional three-person bench seat. Families will appreciate that the bench can accommodate three child seats while still allowing access to the third row.
Cargo capacity has also increased, with up to 78 cubic feet of storage available when the rear seats are folded. Space behind the second row expands to 44 cubic feet, while 15 cubic feet remain available even with all seats occupied.
The dashboard is dominated by a curved OLED display that integrates the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen. A dedicated passenger display now comes standard, while a head-up display remains optional.
Premium touches include a section-dimmable panoramic glass roof, expanded ambient lighting, dual wireless charging pads, and an available Bang & Olufsen sound system featuring seat-mounted exciters for a unique “4-D” audio experience.
Big Gains Under the Hood
The most significant mechanical change is found beneath the hood.
Audi has eliminated the previous four-cylinder entry-level engine and replaced it with a turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 producing 429 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. That’s a substantial jump over the outgoing model and should dramatically improve performance.
Power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, helping the Q7 sprint from 0 to 60 mph in a claimed 4.8 seconds.
The SQ7 continues with a twin-turbocharged V8, but output rises dramatically to 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Audi estimates a blistering 3.7-second run to 60 mph.
Both models can tow up to 7,700 pounds and feature technologies such as trailer stability control and automated trailer-reversing assistance.
Ready for the Next Chapter
Adaptive air suspension and four-wheel steering remain available, while the performance-oriented SQ7 gains an optional sport air suspension setup with a lower ride height.
Audi has yet to reveal official pricing for the 2027 Q7, but the outgoing 2026 model starts at just over $63,000. The new SUV is expected to arrive in U.S. dealerships later this year.
With sharper technology, significantly more power, and a more versatile interior, the 2027 Audi Q7 appears well-positioned to extend its stay among the top luxury three-row SUVs on the market.
