12 September 2016, USA :

At its Bangalore, India branch office, LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner announced today that the company has launched its Lite mobile site which promises to offer a better experience of its service for users in India, where connectivity can be slow or spotty.

The initiatives — LinkedIn Placements, LinkedIn Starter Pack, and LinkedIn Lite — are aimed at “democratizing access to economic opportunity in India,” the company said.

The third service, LinkedIn Lite, is a stripped down version of the social networking website.

The company, which is being acquired by Microsoft Corp, said on Monday the version was aimed at helping users browse its website faster on their smartphones in areas with slow or poor internet connectivity.

“LinkedIn Lite loads four times faster, regardless of the mobile device and the network it is connected to, providing a fast, seamless experience to all its features and unlocking a lot of value for people in urban as well as rural areas. This product has started ramping and will be available to all Indian members in the next few weeks,” the company said in a press release.
