Snapdeal, India’s largest online marketplace, today announced the appointment of Parul Batra as Vice President – Corporate Communications. Seasoned communications professional with a career spanning over 17 years, Parul joins Snapdeal after successful stints at Google and NDTV.

Snapdeal’s vision is to create India’s most reliable and frictionless commerce ecosystem that creates life-changing experiences for buyers and sellers. In February 2010, Kunal Bahl along with Rohit Bansal started Snapdeal. Today Snapdeal is India’s largest online marketplace, with the widest assortment of 50 million plus products across 1000+ categories from over 125,000 regional, national, and international brands and retailers. With millions of users and more than 300,000 sellers, Snapdeal is the shopping destination for Internet users across the country, delivering to 6000+ cities and towns in India.

At Snapdeal, Parul will anchor the public relations mandate for the company, helping drive the company into its next phase of deeper connect with users, as it focuses on partnering them in their journey to a better life.

Welcoming Parul, Rajnish Wahi, Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs & Communications, Snapdeal said “We are delighted to have Parul join the leadership team at Snapdeal. As we move the narrative to focus on our customers and seek to engage with the next 100 million online shoppers, I am sure she will add tremendous value and help us take this vision forward”.

Speaking about her appointment, Parul said, “I am very excited to join the Snapdeal team, as we embark on this next phase of growth. Snapdeal with its strong customer-centric focus and deep understanding of the e-commerce space is well-poised to discern and serve the real needs of its users. I am thrilled to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime journey.”

Part of the founding team of Google in India, Parul held a wide range of leadership positions with the company. Before joining Snapdeal, Parul led the Consumer PR for Google across products such as Search, Maps, Android and Apps. Prior to her decade-long stint at Google, Parul spent seven years with NDTV as a journalist and Senior Content manager. She was also part of the founding team of NDTV Convergence to set up NDTV.com.

Parul holds a Project Management degree from Stanford University and a Masters in Business Administration from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune.
