16 April,2016, Bangalore: Open Door, which works at helping children ‘learn by understanding’ by the use of assessments and feedback has recently raised an investment of one crore from ICA Eduskills. ICA Eduskills, is a leading skill development institute that runs ‘EduLift’ in which they run incubation center for EdTech products and also invest in promising EdTech companies.

Open Door was started by Abhishek Kariwal and Aneesh Bangia, both of whom are alumni of IIT Madras. They quit their jobs in the automotive sector and spent time teaching children only to find gaps in school system. They realised that school teachers are unable to ensure ‘mastery’ of important Science and Maths’ concepts and students are unable the understand concepts in depth. They conceived ‘Open Door’ and decided to step into the school systems and to improve the way children learn.

Open Door currently works under the B2B model, with schools being their customers. The company partners with schools and helps them integrate their Mastery Assessments System into the school curriculum.  It is currently working with around 40 schools in which over 20,000 students are finding more depths to their learning. The investment will help the platform to improve its product capabilities and expand its reach to schools across India. It will also help the company to prepare for the second round of funding, through which it plans to enter the B2C market. Currently, the company operates in two cities Bangalore and Gurugram.
