This new feature, called “Images in ChatGPT,” is different from OpenAI’s DALL-E because it’s built directly into the GPT-4o model. The system is described as “omnimodal” – meaning it can work with and create different types of content like images, text, audio, and video all in one system. This represents an important shift in AI development, with technology now able to handle multiple forms of data together seamlessly.

Studio Ghibli fans have discovered that GPT-4o is particularly good at creating images in the distinctive Ghibli animation style. Users can simply upload a picture and ask the model to transform it into Ghibli-style anime. Since this capability became known, many people have been showing off their Ghibli-inspired creations on various platforms.

Many users have been sharing their results on X, demonstrating the creative possibilities of this new technology.

The image generation feature demonstrates remarkable versatility across various creative domains. It empowers users with sophisticated artistic capabilities to transform their photos into multiple styles, including South Park, Minecraft, Lego, voxel, watercolor, marionette, and rubber hose animation. The tool particularly excels in creative design, generating impressive infographics, product mockups, logos, posters, and other visual elements for advertising campaigns.

The AI’s image generation is really impressive because it can handle small details like facial expressions, accessories, and skin texture really well. You can add or remove things in the background, edit existing photos, and even create weird, imaginative scenes. What makes it special is how it understands what you’re asking for and can be really creative. It can make images in different styles too, from old-school Polaroid photos to high-quality professional-looking pictures.

This improved image creation feature in ChatGPT (which uses GPT-4o) is available to everyone – Plus, Pro, Team, and Free users – and through their API. Unlike DALL-E, the images it makes don’t have a watermark on them.

What are Ghibli films?

Ghibli films are Japanese animated movies made by Studio Ghibli. They have a unique look and often tell everyday stories in beautiful ways. While they’re Japanese, they talk about themes everyone can relate to.

Studio Ghibli was started in 1985 by Hayao Miyazaki and his colleagues Isao Takahata and Toshio Suzuki. Miyazaki is super famous in the animation world and has won many awards. Even though Ghibli movies are anime, they’re special because they make ordinary life seem magical.

Some famous Ghibli movies are Princess Mononoke (1997), Spirited Away (2001), Grave of the Fireflies (1988), Howl’s Moving Castle (2004), Porco Rosso (1992), and My Neighbor Totoro (1988). People love these movies because of their clear storytelling, beautiful settings, and likable characters.
With ChatGPT’s new image creation abilities, Ghibli fans can now make their photos look like they belong in a Ghibli film.
