Exploring the Moon is one of the biggest additions to Genshin Impact, and many players are surprised to learn that the adventure does not end after arriving there. Once you complete the main lunar story, you can actually step outside a space station and freely explore outer space above Teyvat. This hidden area offers incredible views of the planet, the Moon, and the surrounding stars, making it one of the most visually impressive locations in the game.

Complete The Required World Quest
Before you can explore outer space, you must first finish the When We Look Up at the Moon World Quest. This quest takes you through the Moon’s story and eventually unlocks access to the Space Lifeform Capture Station, a facility that orbits above the Lunar Highlands.
You cannot enter outer space before completing this quest, so make sure you progress through the entire storyline until it reaches its conclusion.
Teleport To The Space Lifeform Capture Station
After completing the quest, open your map and teleport back to the Space Lifeform Capture Station.
Unlike during the story, the station remains permanently available after you unlock it. This means you can revisit it whenever you want without replaying any missions or meeting additional requirements.
The station serves as your starting point for exploring the space area surrounding the Moon.
Exit The Station And Enter Outer Space
Once you arrive at the Space Lifeform Capture Station, simply make your way toward the station’s exit that leads outside.
After stepping through the exit, you will officially enter the outer space area located above the Lunar Highlands. The game allows you to move around this environment freely, giving you an opportunity to admire the incredible scenery from orbit.
This area is designed for exploration, so take your time looking around and appreciating the unique setting.
What You Can See In Outer Space
Outer space offers some of the best views currently available in Genshin Impact. Instead of the familiar landscapes of Teyvat, you’ll find yourself surrounded by the darkness of space while looking back at the Moon and the planet below.
Some of the highlights include:
- Panoramic views of Teyvat from orbit.
- The Lunar Highlands from above.
- The exterior of the Space Lifeform Capture Station.
- Stunning star-filled backgrounds.
- Excellent locations for screenshots and photo mode.
The area is less about combat and more about exploration and visual storytelling, making it a memorable destination for players who enjoy discovering every corner of the game.
Can You Return Later?
Yes. One of the best features of this location is that it remains accessible after completing the quest.
You can return at any time by:
- Opening the world map.
- Teleporting to the Space Lifeform Capture Station.
- Walking back outside into space.
There is no need to replay the quest or fulfill any additional objectives once the station has been unlocked.
Tips Before Exploring
Although outer space is easy to access after completing the quest, a few tips can help you make the most of your visit.
- Bring your favorite character for screenshots.
- Explore every accessible section around the station.
- Use the in-game camera to capture the scenery.
- Revisit during different lighting conditions if available.
- Take your time, as there are plenty of impressive viewpoints.
Since the area focuses on exploration rather than combat, there is no need to prepare a specific team before visiting.
Is Outer Space Part Of The Main World?
While the outer space area is fully playable, it exists as a separate location connected to the Moon rather than the main regions of Teyvat. It becomes available only after progressing through the lunar storyline and serves as an extension of the Moon content introduced in the update.
Its inclusion also expands the game’s world beyond the surface of Teyvat, offering players an entirely new perspective that was impossible in earlier versions.
