Wooden Boards are a new crafting material in Palworld that turns basic resources into a processed item. They are important because many crafting recipes now require them instead of raw Wood. If you returned to Palworld after an older version, some familiar recipes may now ask for Wooden Boards.

How to Unlock Wooden Boards
You can unlock Wooden Boards through the Technology menu at Technology Level 15. The recipe costs 1 Technology Point. Open the Technology screen, move to Level 15, find Wooden Board, and spend the required point to learn it.
If you cannot find the recipe, check the correct technology tier. This is useful for players continuing an older save after the 1.0 update. The recipe may be new to your progression even if your character is already far beyond Level 15.
You should also unlock Nails at Technology Level 10. Nails are required to make Wooden Boards, so having the Nail recipe available will prevent a production bottleneck later.
Wooden Board Crafting Recipe
Each Wooden Board requires the following materials:
- 10 Wood
- 5 Fiber
- 1 Nail
The recipe produces 1 Wooden Board per craft. Wood and Fiber are common resources, so the Nail is usually the material that requires more preparation.
To make Nails, you need Ingots. Gather Ore, process it in a Furnace to create Ingots, and then use the appropriate workbench to produce Nails. Keeping extra Ingots and Nails in storage is a smart idea if you expect to make a large batch of boards.
Where to Craft Wooden Boards
After unlocking the recipe and collecting the materials, open a Primitive Workbench and look through its available recipes. Wooden Boards can be crafted there. The High Quality Workbench also supports Wooden Board production.
Select Wooden Board, choose how many you want to produce, and start crafting. You can also assign a Pal with Handiwork suitability to help with production. A suitable Pal can take over while you gather resources, build, or explore.
If the recipe does not appear, first confirm that the Technology unlock was purchased and that you have the required materials. Mods can also interfere with crafting recipes, so players using older mods should check compatibility after major game updates.
How to Get the Required Materials
Getting Wood is straightforward. Chop trees around your base or in nearby areas with an axe. You can also maintain a steady supply through suitable base production later in the game.
Fiber can be obtained while gathering from trees and certain other sources. The recipe needs only five Fiber, so regular gathering is usually enough.
Nails require more preparation because they depend on Ingots. Mine Ore, smelt it into Ingots, and then craft Nails. For large batches, stockpiling Ore and Ingots first will save repeated trips.
What Are Wooden Boards Used For?
Wooden Boards have many uses in Palworld. They appear in recipes for equipment, weapons, storage-related items, and other crafting projects. Examples include the Primitive Sword, Musket, Refined Metal Axe, Refined Metal Pickaxe, Small Pouch, Mega Glider, and several Pal-related items.
Because boards are used in multiple recipes, it is worth producing more than you immediately need. A small stockpile can save time when you unlock another item and discover that it requires several boards.
Do Not Confuse Them With High Quality Wooden Boards
Palworld also has a separate material called High Quality Wooden Board. It is not an upgraded version that you can make from ordinary Wooden Boards. It is a different recipe and is unlocked much later, at Technology Level 43.
High Quality Wooden Boards require Hardwood, Wood, and High Quality Cloth, and they are crafted at a Production Assembly Line II. Therefore, if a late-game recipe specifically asks for High Quality Wooden Board, normal Wooden Boards will not work.
